Mr. William (Bill) Earl Starkey, of Calgary, went to be with his Lord after a short bout with cancer on April 30, 1995 at the age of 48 years. He is the loving father of Robyn Lisa (Bruce) Petherick of Australia, Alison Starkey, and Robert Starkey, both of Calgary. Bill is also survived by his mother, Rose Starkey; brother, John (Kathy) Starkey; sister, Joan (Rod) Rostek; uncle and aunt, Stephen and Mary Stevens; aunts, Mary Saranchuk and Lois Starkey; nephews, Kevin (Lori), Ryan and Jeffrey Starkey; and numerous cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Peter in 1977. Bill was born June 17, 1946 in Saskatoon, SK. He attended the University of Saskatchewan, University of British Columbia, Washington State University, and the University of Calgary. He worked as a social worker in Northern Saskatchewan, developed real estate, was a social worker for the youth offender centre in BC. He also worked as a professional photographer to finance his education and assisted in the establishment of Colorific Photo Labs, Vancouver. He also worked for a number of local and national companies. He was a computer consultant at the time of his death. Bill's greatest joy was spending time with his children and his life was characterized by helping others. He volunteered at the Crisis Cen-tre and for numerous other organizations.
His passion was researching social issues. Bill will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
