Mark moved from Baltimore to Mt Prospect the start of sophomore year. We met in English class, he spotting a mini-bike magazine I had as I sat in the desk next to him. Sparked a conversation over that magazine and developed a friendship from it. Mark and I eventually bought an off road Honda 90cc motorcycle together and he taught me how to ride it. He also taught me many more things through our High School Years together. Free thinking was one those things. Opening my mind up to other sides of issues, looking at things in a more complete way then just the single view it seemed I had been taught up to that point. He had been to Rock concerts while live out East, The Who when he was a Freshman. He and I visited his hometown the Thanksgiving of our Junior Year and he took me to my very first real Rock Concert --Eric Claptons, Derek and the Dominos. I was hooked since that night. Mark was among the most open minded and accepting people I'd ever met. I am proud to believe some of who Mark was rubbed off a little on me and for that I am grateful. Mark was one of those "graduated early" students Senior Year, and he took off at once to backpack through Europe with his sisters BF and trek they did. Working in Vineyards in France, Down To Spain, North Africa, England, all over. Mark was a Troubadour and shared much of his Journeys with me upon his return. I lost contact with Mark when I was in the Army but then learned he had moved to California and using his people and open minded skills, became a County Supervisor for Sacramento County, in charge of Housing and safety for residents, especially those in need. Cancer took Mark far too young in 2017. He leaves a wife and son still both in the Sacramento Area.
