I am Gabriel Smith, a Junior at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. Previously, I held the position as president of the Cy-Tech Magnet Program at Tara High as well as Treasurer for SGA. At the end of the 2023-2024 school year, I obtained my HS diploma from Tara as well as an Associates Degree from BRCC in Computer Science, becoming the first student to conquer this achievement in the history of East Baton Rouge Parish.

With the grace of my Heavenly Father, I have been blessed to intern with IBM,  and Sparkhound, where I have received support from my counterparts regarding Tech. I am currently participating in a professional mentorship program for aspiring Data Scientists.

Community Impact has always been a great passion of mine. For six (6) years, I have volunteered in the Baton Rouge community to help those less-fortunate as my family was once in the same situation.  And throughout my high school career, I have lead the EBRPSS Special Olympics as an ambassador, volunteered in disaster recovery/relief with Revive Louisiana Volunteer Project, and have participated in the S.T.A.R.S Entrepreneurship Program amongst other organizations.

Being a team player is key in my success which is why I was chosen as Most Team Player on my bowling and football teams. Success has also allow me to garner particular stances in my leadership positions.

I am excited to be a participant in the La Rouge Beautillion! This cohort will extend my community leadership and team player characteristics. I will benefit from professional mentoring opportunities to understand my personal potential. And lastly, I believe it will improve my social and interpersonal skills as I develop a bond amongst the brotherhood within the organization.
