This was a critical time in history in which formerly enslaved people sought out and were reunited with family members separated and sold in slavery. This union has become a tradition to celebrate the kinship and resilience that Black families endured. Today, they are a remarkable opportunity to come together and celebrate our roots and accomplishments, which is just as critical now as ever before.
