Ms. Sarah Lee Ellis, 66, Daytona Bch., who passed on August 14, 2016, will be 11 AM, Saturday, August 20, 2016 at RJ Gainous Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 5-8:30 PM, today (Fri, Aug 19) at RJ Gainous Funeral Home and from 9:30 AM until service time at the funeral home on Saturday. Ms. Ellis was born August 9, 1950 to the late Rufus Lee, Sr. and the late Ruthie Mae Lee in Sales City, GA. She moved to Daytona Bch at a young age. She attended the public schools of Volusia County including the former Campbell Street High School. Her early church affiliation was with the Madison Heights Church of God in Christ under the direction of Reverend A. Jones. She was a housekeeper at Beachcomer Inn and retired 29 years later from Hilton Oceanfront Resort. Her favorite pastime involved scratching of lottery tickets, cooking, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her older brother: Nathan McCoy; older sisters: Ida Mae Warren and Mary Leo. She is survived by three loving sons: Billy Ellis, Jr. (Tammy), Bernard Ellis (Rita), all of Daytona Bch., Brian Ellis (Shelia), Palm Coast, FL; two loving daughters: Patricia Ellis, Pamela Ellis, both of Daytona Bch.; four brothers: Rufus Lee, Jr. (Delores), Morris Lee (Jacqueline), Ray Lee, Robert Lee (Novelyn); four sisters: Williemne Lee, Bobbie Jean Davis (Sammie), Pauline Ford (Randolph), Janice Lee; uncle: Rufus McCoy (Willie Mae); aunt: Cora Lee McCoy; brother-in-law: Willie Warren; sister-in-law: Kate McCoy Lee; ten grandchildren: Britney Lundy, Autry Williams, Tarshann Cynthia Williams, Mykara Lundy, Kennedy Ellis, Morgan Gregory, all of Daytona Beach, Florida, Aschia Ellis, North Carolina; Sheyla Ellis, Roman Perera, Dylan Perera; four great grandchildren: Iceric Brown, Jr., Kylia Lewis, Xailynn King, Savannah Smith, all of Daytona Beach, Florida; a host of nephews nieces, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Gladys Henderson, 96, who passed away December 20th after a brief illness, will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at Zion Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 2803 W. Edgewood Ave. where she was a faithful and active member, Rev. Clifford Johnson, Jr., Pastor. Mrs. Henderson will be deeply missed by her devoted son, Johnnie (Shirley) Woodside; 4 grand, 5 great grand and 1 great-great grand child; 1 brother; 3 sisters; other relatives and friends.

Andrew Mathis

Born January 2, 1955 the fourth child of Mrs Daisy Lee McCoy Mathis and Freddie Lee Mathis. Andrew joined Mt Olive Missionary Baptist church at an early age. A Life long resident of Sale City, He often helped serve meals in the community to those in need and would help wherever needed. He worked at Golden Peanut Co for a number of years before he become disabled. He will be remembered mostly for his warm hugs and good cooking.

He was proceeded in death by his parents and 4 siblings. Toni,David,Daisy, and Norman Mathis.

He leaves to cherish 4 Children, Bridgette, Shon, Julian and Brandi Mathis. 7 Grandchildren; Jassney, Na’ Curian, Na’Viesha, Zoriyah, Tyson, Azaria, and Cali.
2 Greatgrands; Kylah and Ke’ Lijah. 1 uncle; Rufus McCoy Sr. 8 siblings; Fred (Mary), Johnny (Nate), Gloria (Willie), Sammy, Brenda (Joseph), Gladys, Gwinnett (Calvin), and Carol. A host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Norman Mathis

Norman Allen Mathis Sr., 52, of Camilla, Ga., died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 14, at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 150 Bush St., Sale City, with Rev. W.C. Whitfield officiating. Burial will follow in Sale City Community Cemetery. He was the seventh child born to the late Freddie Mathis and the late Daisy Lee Mathis of Sale City, on Feb. 21, 1959. He graduated from Mitchell County High School in 1978. At an early age, he joined the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. His favorite saying was, "It is what it is," his family said. He worked for Moultrie Post Farms until his health failed. He was united in marriage on Feb. 14, 2009, to Rose Gardner Mathis. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Antonia and Daisy Mathis; and one brother, David Mathis. Survivors include his devoted wife, Rose Mathis of Camilla, Ga.; four devoted sons, Norman Allen Mathis Jr. and wife Felicia and Kentravius Gardner, both of Camilla, Ga., Marcus Moore and wife Renea of Atlanta, Ga., and Dominique Wiley of Moultrie; two devoted daughters, Carmelita Caison of Albany, Ga., and Sharonda Williams of Moultrie; seven grandchildren, Naquavion, Naria and Allandis Mathis, all of Camilla, Ga., Kalep Parker of Albany, Ga., Marcus Jr. and Kylee Moore of Atlanta, Ga., and Javen Jackson of Moultrie; six sisters, Johnnie Guyton and husband Nathaniel, Gloria Bryant and husband Willie, Brenda Sessions and husband Joseph, and Carol Mathis, all of Sale City, and Gladys Donaldson and Gwennette Turner and husband Calvin, both of Virginia; three brothers, Andrew Mathis and Sammy Mathis, both of Sale City, and Freddie Mathis and wife Mary of Douglasville, Ga.; a host of loving nieces, nephews, father-in-law, mother-in-law, step-father-in-law, mother-in-law, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, other relatives and friends. Daisy Lee Mathis (McCoy)

Daisy Lee Mathis, 76, of Sale City, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at Archbold Memorial Hospital.


Born Jan. 21, 1932, in Colquitt County, she was the daughter of the late Johnny and Alice McCoy. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Fannie McIntyre O.E.S. #136 and served as the Mother of the Church, a deaconess, a Sunday school teacher, and many other capacities in the church.


Survivors include her husband, Freddie L. Mathis of Sale City; four sons, Fred Mathis and wife Mary of Douglasville, Ga., and Andrew Mathis and wife Deborah, Sammy Mathis and Norman Mathis, all of Sale City; seven daughters, Johnnie Guyton and husband Nathaniel, Gloria Bryant and husband Willie, Daisy Green, Brenda Session and husband Joseph, and Carol Mathis, all of Sale City, and Gladys Donaldson of Charlottesville, Va., and Gwennett Turner and husband Calvin of Ruckersville, Va.; four sisters, Gladys Henderson of Jacksonville, Fla., and Miller Walker, Cora Lee McCoy, and Doris McCoy, all of Daytona Beach, Fla.; a brother, Rufus McCoy and wife Willie Mae of Daytona Beach, Fla.; 31 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Rufus P. McCoy, age 95, passed away June 12, 2020. The staff of Pinello Funeral Home sends their thoughts, condolences and prayers to the family of Mr. McCoy. All funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Pinello Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be Saturday June 20, 2020 at 4:00 PM at Pinello Funeral Home, 1036 Derbyshire Rd., Daytona Beach, FL. Viewing will start one hour before service time. A Graveside Service will be Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Cool Springs Cemetery in Sale City, Georgia, where Mr. McCoy will be laid to rest.

IDA LEE WARREN 61, was born to the parentage of the late Rufus Lee and Ruthie Mae McCoy in Sale City Georgia. In 1950 she moved to Daytona Beach from her birthplace.

She received her education at the former Campbell Street High School. She worked for 33 years as a housekeeper for Delaire Hotel. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing cards, loved life her child and grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 40+ years Willie Warren, sons; Willie Devon Warren and Marcus Hooten, daughters; Tamara Dowdell, Virginia, Willean Thomas, Atlanta, Ga. and Decole Hooten, brothers; Nathan McCoy, Rufus, Morris, Ray and Robert Lee, sisters; Willie Mae Lee, Bobbie Davis, Pauline Ford, Sarah Ellis and Janice Lee, and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday from 5 - 9 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Service will be held Saturday 10:00 a.m. at the Hope Fellowship Church

Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery
