Dear Matador Family - After graduating from Miramonte, I started working at Bechtel Corporation the next week as an Assistant Secretary. Demonstrating a keen sense of curiosity, initiative, and flexibility, I rose through the ranks of Bechtel. I worked at many job sites and office locations throughout the US and internationally (one of a very few women working internationally at the time) as Human Resources Manager and my final assignment was as Kuwait Office Manager. I retired from Bechtel after 40 years in 2010. I met my husband Bill in San Francisco, he also worked for Bechtel, and we were married in 1977. Our son Evan was born in 1980.  Evan married his beautiful wife Michelle in 2016. Bill passed away peacefully by my side last year in August after battling Parkinson’s Disease, but he was aware that he was going to be a grandfather, which gave him immense joy. Our Granddaughter Madison (Madi) William Vallejos was born about 1-1/2 months after Bill passed and she is named after him. One of my assignments with Bechtel took me to North Carolina. I fell in love with the area and started going back each year for vacation and became a very active member of the Cape Fear Blues Society in Wilmington. When I was not working around the US and world, I lived in the  beautiful Edwardian home my grandparents built in 1923 in the Laurel Heights area of San Francisco. Bill and I also lived in Vallejo for a number of years and we gave that lovely home in the Glen Cove area to Evan after Bill passed to raise his family. After Bill’s death last year, I decided to move back to North Carolina in January 2019 for my retirement where I always said I would retire. So, I’m settled in the lovely town of Cary, North Carolina. Unfortunately, I will be unable to attend our reunion. I wish y’all a fun weekend and a lifetime of peace and joy! With love, Mary Ellison Vallejos (and YES I’m still a red-head!!)

Managed to graduate Berkeley in forestry and found employment in sawmill management and engineering until the environmental movement moved us down the road. Spent some time in Siberia (lumber related, not in Gulag). Then changed Flora and grew Pinot Noir grapes in Sonoma Co. Now retired but still growing... walnuts this time.  Married for 34 years to Pam. Daughter Robin, 33 and step-son Chris 50. Also three granddaughters and two labs. Living on the Russian River in Cloverdale.

Hi Classmates- Here’s my story of the last 50 years.  It doesn’t seem that long.  Today I’m enjoying retirement.   After truly interesting work years as an engineer / manager in the aerospace, design engineering and IT fields, it was time to relax & appreciate the results of my career.  Once I sloughed through Miramonte followed by several colleges & universities, I was surprise to discover that corporate life was a place where I could thrive.  At McDonald Douglas and Bechtel Engineering, I contributed to successful projects focused primarily on transportation & environmental clean-up.  As engineering changed due to computerization, my focus transitioned to to information technology.   Final phase of my career was 20 years at Wells Fargo where I managed an IT Hardware team, while also being the Facilities Manager for one of the bank’s core Data Centers.  I’m very proud that the data center had constantly high reliability ratings. My dyslexia has improved.  Like many people with the disorder, I experienced jumps in abilities in my twenties.  Computers added tools for managing related challenges professionally.  I still do a crossword puzzle each day as an exercise to keep my spelling & logic skills up. Since 1995, I’ve been firmly planted in the Roseville area.  No kids of my own, but after my sister’s death, her twins & I became closer.  Our nieces each have a girl & a boy.  Eventually I expected to relocate to Everett, WA to be near them.  Meanwhile I’m lucky that my brother recently retired & relocated to Rocklin. Right now (February), I’m watching the presidential primaries closely.  If my candidate wins, I hope to be selected to attend the Democratic National Convention in Milwaukee, as a District Delegate.  Day to day, I’m learning how to be a gym rat; something completely new for me.  For 2021 & 2022, am planning a couple of overseas trips.  Hopefully Europe next year and Japan the following spring. Looking forward to the reunion in September!

Hi all! I was YANKED out of Miramonte right before my senior year and actually graduated from a high school in New Providence, New Jersey! Talk about culture shock!  After bumping around a bit, I’m living in Portland OR with my husband, Jack. I retired from nursing a couple of years ago. I spend my time with some volunteer work, traveling, gardening, choir, book club....wow! No wonder I sleep so well! I am hoping to make it to the reunion.

Dear classmates! An update on me and I hope everybody gives us information so we don't have to ask so many questions at the reunion. I'm fascinated by all our lives and where we ended up. I moved out and headed off to DVC after graduation. It took me several colleges and universities to finally complete my BA which I did in 1989 at Cal. I got there via cosmetology school, blackjack dealer at Harrahs, croupier on cruise ships out of Miami, failed my real estate exam, failed my pilots exam, this girl couldn't stop seeking adventure!  Completed my Masters program in clinical psychology at JFK and put in years getting hours to become a licensed marriage and family therapist. Retired from the big job at 62 for the county as a CPS social worker. Now part time at Kaiser in their chemical dependency program. Decided to try marriage twice and both times were not successful, Probably wouldn't recommend me as your therapist LOL. Best part is two lovely daughters And currently two little grandkid!  I lived and took care of my dad for eight years until he passed in 2018 and I have been passionate about exploring our incredible world! I currently live in Rossmoor!  I am a women in recovery over three decades and am deeply rooted in caring for our earth and all sentient beings. Looking forward to seeing everyone even though I'm feeling anxious and shy!

Alive and well in S. Illinois.  Graduated Willamette Univ with a chemistry degree, went to graduate school Univ of Pittsburgh forensic science program.  Worked in the Illinois State Police crime lab way too many years.  Trained others to do DNA testing.  Worked for an outfit in Albany NY training forensic scientists including army battlefield forensic folks! Occasionaly I do some forensic lab iso audits including one recently in Nigeria.  No I didn't find that Nigerian prince who wants to give me money.   I thought I was retired but my brother in law dragged me into doing some railroad safety analysis.  I said I know nothing about railroads, he said thats ok we can teach you that but we need the analytical skills you possess.   I no longer play the trumpet but took up bass guitar and play in church and with friends!  Had four kids but lost the oldest daughter in a car wreck.  Horrible.  The rest of the kids are gainfully employed, at least for the moment (some of you know how this goes).  I Enjoy hiking, boating, actually pretty much anything outdoors.  I haven't been back to the bay area since graduation except passing through airports... its time I come back for a visit.  Hope to see you there.
