Stan Friedman
Friedman, Stanford Martin, 67, passed away at Masonic Homes of Louisville on Monday, September 15, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irving and Helen Friedman. Stan is survived by his wife, Jamie; stepson, Derek Ferrell (Brandy); grandchildren, Lauren and Braylen; a sister, niece, nephew, uncle, many cousins, and a wealth of loving friends. After graduating from University of Louisville School of Medicine, Stan spent his entire career as an emergency room physician at Jewish Hospital. His love of medicine was only surpassed by a love of travel, music, boating, and University of Louisville Cardinal Basketball. Special gratitude goes out to Mark and Martha Partin, Sheryl Yoffe, Rhonda Reskin, Ron Podoll, Terry McGann, Tim Gardner, and so many other friends and relatives who provided support, companionship, friendship, and love throughout the years and in the final months. Many thanks to the incredible staff at Masonic Homes, caregivers from Home Instead, and his Hosparus team for providing loving end of life care. Stan's wish was to help further science and research at the University of Louisville School of Medicine through the Body Bequeathal Program. No funeral service will be held, instead a celebration of Stan's life is planned for Sunday, September 28, 2014 from 2-6 p.m. at Stevie Ray's Blues Club, 203 East Main Street, Louisville, KY. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hosparus, the National Kidney Foundation, Huntington's Disease Society of America, and the Rockhouse Foundation(www.rockhousefoundation.org) to support education in Negril, Jamaica.
