Scott A. Schullo Obituary
CROSS PLAINS - Scott A Schullo, age 66, passed away peacefully at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg, Wis., on April 5, 2023, surrounded by his family.
Scott was born on April 8, 1956, to Rita (Driscoll) and James Schullo. He attended Alexander Ramsey High School in Roseville, Minn., and graduated in 1974. He received a Construction Drafting Degree from Saint Paul Technical Vocational Institute in 1976.
Scott worked for Northern Natural Gas in Minnesota, Wyoming, and Colorado for 12 years; Florida Gas Transmission in Lakeland, Fla., for 18 years; Fairbanks Natural Gas, in Fairbanks, Alaska for one year and then retired from Madison Gas and Electric, Madison, Wis., in 2017 after 10 years of service. For the past year, Scott worked at Ace Hardware Store in Cross Plains. He enjoyed the people he worked with and the customers he was able to help.
He married Shauna (nee Thompson) in 1988 until her death in 2009. During their married life, they lived in Florida, Alaska and Wisconsin.
Scott married Patricia Stack in 2012. Scott and Pat loved to travel throughout the United States visiting family and friends. Scott especially loved nature and going to state and national parks was always on his list when visiting the different states.
He was a kind and generous man whose smile could light up a room. Scott loved to entertain and make everyone’s favorite food with his Green Egg Smoker; he was especially known for making ribs. He loved our three dogs (Thor, Buster, and Brady), making stained glass pieces, playing cribbage, Christian Music, euchre, golf, working in the yard, day trips with friends (especially flying with the Peterson family), gatherings of any type with family and friends, and working on house projects. Scott could fix or build just about anything and would readily help anyone in need. He loved driving and having his 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger restored.
One of Scott’s greatest passions was hockey. He played hockey starting at a very early age and then throughout his adult life until a hip replacement slowed him down. He so enjoyed the adult recreational hockey team that he played for in Florida, making lifelong friends. With this hockey team, Scott played goalie for three CARHA (Canadian Adult Recreational Hockey Association) World Cup events. The CARHA World Cup happens every four years and attracts hundreds of teams throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. Scott was able to play in Quebec City, Toronto and Vancouver. One of his greatest memories was when a Swedish team asked him to play goalie for them. When Scott lived in Tampa, Florida, he became an avid Tampa Bay Lightning fan.
Scott volunteered at West Middleton Lutheran Church and volunteered for many years at Agrace Thrift Store in Madison. It is truly a blessing that his volunteer work at Agrace would come full circle and support him in his death.
He was also very involved in several Men’s Christian and Bible Study Groups. The people he met through these groups impacted him tremendously and helped him grow in his faith.
Scott is survived by his wife, Patricia Stack, Cross Plains, Wis; mother, Rita Driscoll of Watertown, S.D.; sister, Debbie Villella of Fargo, N.D.; sister, Joni (Bob) Keene of Saint Paul, Minn.; brother, Chris (Dawn) Brunner of Otsego, Minn.; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Scott was preceded in death by his father, James Schullo; and his wife, Shauna Schullo.
Scott’s family wishes to thank the wonderful doctors and staff at the UW Carbone Cancer Center and the compassionate and loving staff at Agrace HospiceCare.
A service will be held at WEST MIDDLETON LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3763 Pioneer Road, Verona, Wis., at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023. The family will be greeting friends and relatives at the church from 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. A luncheon will be held immediately after the service at West Middleton Lutheran Church.
