Elliot Bergen
1974-05-24 2015-01-25
Elliot Bergen passed away on January 25, 2015. Elliot grew up in Hopatcong, NJ and was a 1993 graduate of Sussex County Vo-Tech. He was preceded in death by both his parents. Like his father, Elliot enjoyed a successful career in the airline industry. He worked as a Ramp Agent with United Airlines in New Jersey, Piedmont Airlines in Charlotte, NC and as an outsourced Ramp Agent at Pittsburgh International Airport in Pennsylvania. Elliot had a deep interest for NASCAR.
Elliot was a strong, diligent individual who had a strong sense of family, devotion to God and respect for all who assisted him. He fondly spoke of several coworkers at Piedmont Airlines, friends of his father who guided him and those that looked after him physically, emotionally and spiritually. When diagnosed with a heart condition, Elliot stated, “I’m glad I got to come “home” to be straighten out!” He resided with his “extended family,” the Storick’s in Summerville, NC until he passed.
On a personal note, Elliot was a highly intelligent, misunderstood child/man. He had an impeccable sense of humor. Some may say the world failed him. However, he grew to be a successful, loyal individual. In high school, John Velde, Class of 1994 was a strong support for Elliott, always including him and keeping up with NASCAR stats with him. My adult self wishes I took the time to do the same. I am personally sad that Elliot is no longer with us to participate in the camaraderie with his fellow Alumni at the reunion. Elliott you are deeply missed. We are the lucky ones to have known you.
