CHERYL TAYLOR-MEEKS OBITUARY
Funeral services for Ms. Cheryl Taylor-Meeks, 47, Daytona Beach, who passed on Sunday, December 2, 2012, will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Tubman-King Community Church with Rev. John Long, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Calling hours are from 5 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., Friday (today, Dec. 7) at RJ Gainous Funeral Home, Inc. and from 11:30 a.m. until service time at the church on Saturday. Cheryl was born to Phyllis and Clifford Taylor on July 23, 1965 in Daytona Beach, Florida. There she became a Debutante, an Upward Bound student, a National Honor Society member, and a 1983 graduate of Seabreeze High. She attended the University of Florida and Daytona Beach Community College, where she received her nursing degrees. Cheryl worked as a Registered Nurse for 20 years. During that time, she met and married Gregory Lee Meeks of New Smyrna Beach, FL. From that union were their four children - Gregory, Gabrielle, Garrett and Gavin Meeks. Cheryl was truly a "free spirit" who enjoyed being a member of Tubman-King Community Church, volunteering, spending time with family and friends, and participating in Daytona's Bike Week festivities. Cheryl was preceded in death by her sister, Brenda Taylor Carpenter. She leaves to cherish her memory her parents, Clifford Taylor II and Phyllis Taylor, both of Daytona Beach; her children, Gregory, Gabrielle, Garrett and Gavin Meeks, Daytona Beach; three siblings: Clifford Taylor III (Claire), Charlotte, NC, Latonya Taylor, Stockbridge, GA and Derrick Taylor, Gainesville, FL; one nephew, Clifford Taylor IV; two step-grandparents: Willie Mae Taylor, Bayside, NY and Carl Thompson, Chicago, IL, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
