William (Billy Wags) Wagner
1954-11-21 2023-07-15
William John Wagner, “Wags”, a joker, a jister, a comical person with wit, accepted his invitation to a party in Heaven on Saturday, July 15th, 2023.
Born in Euclid, Ohio, he was raised in Willowick, Ohio where he attended St. Mary Magdeline elementary school. He continued his education at St. Joseph’s High School in Euclid graduating in 1973. Shortly thereafter, Wags took a free-spirited month to explore Europe, backpacking and carousing with the native residents in different countries.
A few years later, he joined the Local 860 Laborer’s Union in Cleveland where he worked as a construction laborer until his retirement.
Wags was an artist in his rock gardens and was always happy to share his talents and boulders with countless others. He was an accomplished darter, winning many tournaments over the years and he could be consistently counted on to play on various softball teams. He was a staunch Cleveland Tribe and Browns backer, a vicious pinochle player and had a passion for golf and fishing. He was a very devoted friend, forging bonds that lasted a LIFETIME. He was a loving husband and an incomparable partner.
He moved to Florida this past year spending his last days reveling in the time spent on the gulf beaches.
Wags was preceded in death by his father, John Carrol Wagner; mother, Dorothy Ann Agnes Wagner (nee Srsa) and brother, Paul (Sue) Wagner.
He is survived by his adoring wife, Cynthia Wagner; 2 brothers, James (Yolanda) Wagner, San Antonio, TX and Christopher (Christine) Wagner, Atlanta, GA; his Aunt Pat, TN; nephews, Jonathan, Shawn, Paul & Bradley; niece, Alexis and a plethora of in-laws, cousins and friends.
For those mourning Wags, he would just want you to remember: “Grief is just love with no place to go…”
