Deacon Larry walked the life of fellowship, providing spiritual guidance, delivering poignant homilies, welcoming new members of the church through the sacrament of baptism, and participating in community service efforts such as the Corpus Christi Food Pantry. In recent years, Larry was particularly fond of gathering, reflecting, and praying with the Saturday morning men's groups.

I had Mr. Cummins for Geometry my sophomore year. I knew him before that from Boy Scouts. He wasn't with our troop, but he was always at the district and council events. I struggled with math when I was in school, and as I look back, I believe it was because I always had bad teachers. When I was in his class, math was my best subject. I was able to understand the subject matter and actually got good grades. Unfortunately for me, I was moved out his class at the end of the first semester and into a class of another bad math teacher. I don't know why they moved me, but I should have complained. Mr. Cummins was one of the best teachers I ever had.
tribute by Shawn O'MalleyI don't remember having him as a teacher but, I met Larry Cummins later in the early 80's after I returned from the Navy. Larry and his wife Theresa got my wife and I involved in the Church again and in helping with youth retreats. Larry was one of the first ordained Deacons, possibly in the United States. Larry and Theresa had an agreement that they made when they got married, that they would spend the first 25 years of their marriage in Larry's hometown of Cleveland and the next 25 in New Hampshire (forget which city), where Theresa grew up. Larry retired from teaching but continued his diaconal ministry. Theresa went to work for the FAA. Larry was my inspiration for always considering becoming a Deacon myself. He became a very good friend and gave Tess and I a lot of good advice on being a better couple. When I was ordained in 2016, I credited Larry for watching over me and guiding me from Heaven. God bless you Larry. I hope to see you again some day.
