Ronald J. DeCaro, age 76 of Mentor, passed away February 22, 2021, at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights. He was born on September 13, 1944.Ron taught at St. Joseph High School and most recently at Mentor High School as a Social Studies teacher for 36 years, retiring in 2004. He was a longtime member of St. Gabriel Church and was a member of the church choir. He also volunteered for the Lake County Board of Elections for 16 years. Above all else, Ron enjoyed being with family. Through them Ron’s light will continue to shine. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Maureen (Heyman); sons, John (Gina) DeCaro, Michael (Charla) DeCaro, and Robert (Rebecca) DeCaro; grandchildren, Leah, Drew, Lucas, Olivia, Alexandria, and Emilia; sisters, Gina (Carl) Johnson and Lisa (Robert) Eckhoff and many other loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony Jr. and Gemma (Trabucchi) DeCaro.A funeral mass will be held at 9:30 am Monday, March 1, 2021, at St. Gabriel Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Rd., Concord Twp., OH 44060.
