Comment: | As our 50th reunion is now here, I'm feeling alittle guilty for never having updated anything - so here it goes!! After UD, I went to Gettysburg College and moved to Wash DC after graduation. First as a paralegal at a DC law firm and then the Washington Post. Those paralegal years cured me of any desire to go to law shcool, so back to school I went at George Washington Univ for my MBA. New MBA in hand, I moved to NYC in 1983 . I met my hisband Paul at Morgan Stanley - we were both new recruits! We married in 1988 and here we are 35 years later, living in the same town of Rye, NY that we moved to in 1990. Rye is a small town on Long island sound, only 30 miles from NYC and an easy commute. I describe it as Ozzie and Harriet land - its just too darn nice to leave and a wonderful town to raise a family. It's claim to fame is" Playland Amusement Park", which has been around since the 1920's and was in the movie "Big" . The newer movie "The Watcher" was also filmed in Rye - I'm too scared to see it!! We have 3 incredible children, Chris (32), Allison(30) and Melissa(28) - all squeezed in within 4 years! I was fine working with 2, but having 3 young ones so close in age made me decide to throw in the towel to my wall street days. I loved my job as a portfolio manager, but never looked back. My son played hockey from an early which he continued in college (Gettysburg) and both girls swam competitively pretty much their entire lives, continuing to swim at Georgetown and Princeton. I spent more time than you can imagine at freezing cold hockey rinks and very long swim meets, but I wouldn't trade all those years driving to practice (age 16 is a wonderful thing) and watching my kids compete for anything. Our last swim meet was in 2017 and I am a firm believer in college sports!! Keeps everyone out of trouble and nothing like always having a team behind you. One child is married but no grand kids yet - just a grand puppy Lab! This is just enough dog in our lives as we've lost 3 labs of our own over the years. Two of our kids live in NYC which we love having them "close enough" and our married daughter lives in SF and unfortunately they love it out there! So here we are, empty nestors. volunteering here and there and traveling quite a bit before covid. Now its time to get back out there as we definitely have the travel bug which has taken us to some pretty amazing far places. I took my mom to her 65th college reunion at Arcadia Univ at age 87 - she was so proud to be there. Reunions do matter. I'm proud to join all of you at our 50th!! And my heart felt thanks to Kathy and everyone else that helped plan this weekend. You guys are the best!! See you soon!! |

Comment: | SUSAN GERO Shigeoka passed away in NOVEMBER-2012 (See Tab on this website-Classmates-Memoriam) Below is her personal entry before she passed away. RIP Susan TO CLASSMATES OF UD CLASS OF 1973- What an interesting class of ’73 whose members have experienced many types of journeys and adventures, both near and afar. As others have pointed out, this website is definitely a mini-reunion in itself; and, I extend my gratitude to Bev, Hope and Seth. Like several other classmates, I wasn’t in school much during our senior year. Went to Univ. of Maryland for a few years, got married and transferred to Temple Univ. for a smidge, and graduated from their School of Pharmacy. In the middle of a 28+ year career as a pharmacist, the latter half spent as a self-employed subcontractor in various practice settings in southeastern PA, I took a short break to concentrate on scuba diving training that, over time, went on to include some technical training and cave diving, a good portion of that in FL. While building up the subcontracting business, I got it into my head to start a small company with a partner manufacturing and retailing Scuba Diving and Ocean Life Fine Jewelry, which I still do. I’m in the (long) process of working on a new website in the background, but if you're curious: I’m also an invisible-by-choice co-owner of a small media productions company up north. My husband of 33 years passed away in early mid-2008 after a sudden but short illness. I retired from pharmacy to take care of him and will probably remain retired from the primary career. Am still a little a washed in paperwork and have a tradeshow the same weekend as the reunion, thus won’t be around to say hello. Best regards to all! |

Comment: | 2012: Kevin (class of '71) and I have been married for 30 years now...took a wonderful cruise to celebrate. We have two children...Lindsay, 23, graduated from Univ. of Delaware and now living in Florida and Kevin Jr. who is a sophmore in college...double majoring in guitar performance and music education..we haven't a clue where those abilities came from. Kevin and I work together in a family business in Ivyland PA (plastic fabrication...started by Kevin's dad over 35 years ago)...never thought we could work together but it's working out great...car pool so we don't have to pay more for gas...he gets up earlier than I'd like. We now live in the house that Kevin grew up in....strange for him in the beginning...I adapt easily. I'm so excited that Bev, Hope and Seth have put this all together....Kathy and I were a bit burnt out. Hopefully we'll be able to reconnect with most of you in the fall. |

Children: | 3 |
Occupation: | Senior Consultant |
Comment: | I work part time as a Senior Consultant for an HR Consulting firm. I also referee NCAA Womens Division I Lacrosse and Division II and III Field Hockey in addition to high school. Last summer I umpired the Prague Lacrosse Cup and recently officiated the WDIA's in Denver and the NCAA playoffs. Many a UD alumni has hollered at me from the stands! I was widowed over 10 years ago and I have been fortunate to meet another widower - Mike - a retired Army Colonel. We have 6 children between us and my three are Jessica who is pictured with me (24) and a Surety Bond Underwritier with Liberrty Mutual, JJ (23) who is graduating from Drexel (BSME) in June and will be working at Deloitte & Touche and my youngest is Steve, a junior at LaSalle HS. We live on a golf course in Ambler - unfortunately it has not improved my putting at all! Thanks Hope, Bev and Seth - it has been so fun to read all of the entries and see the pictures - brings back so many memories. |
