"On Jan. 27, 2011, the world along with our family and friends lost our beloved Mark to cancer. He was born in Bakersfield and shortly thereafter his family moved to Ojai Valley, where he grew up. Mark graduated from Ventura High School in 1975, during that time he enjoyed surfing and camping with the family every year in Yosemite. He later moved to Sweethome, Ore., where he worked and lived for a year. Mark then moved back to his hometown and became employed with Ventura Unified School District and has worked there for 32 years. Mark married Staci in 1992 and they were blessed with a beautiful daughter named Mikayla Lynn, now 15, who was his whole world. Mark was a wonderful, thoughtful and caring father. He and his daughter shared love of music by playing guitars together. They also enjoyed going to car races, concerts, hiking, horseback riding, camping, shooting - and through her, Mark will live on. Mark accomplished a lot through the years as he was a talented, self-taught guitarist, playing in bands and on the church worship team having a deep love for God, most recently creating a CD with his fiance Teres, who he adored. Mark was also an avid photographer and volunteered for the Sheriffs "Search and Rescue" which gave him the opportunity to shoot dramatic pictures, winning local awards in the 'action photography' category. Preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by his daughter, Mikayla Metzner; her mother, Staci Metzner; brother, Matt Metzner; sisters, Sandy Adair, Suzi Metzner; fiance Teres Rochelle, and numerous nieces and nephews. There are no words to say how much Mark will be missed by all. We want to give special thanks to Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurses for the loving care and support they gave to Mark and his family."
