He was born June 2, 1957, in Los Angeles, and was a 34-year county resident, coming from Orange County. Ted was attending Ventura College and was an avid bodybuilder. Known for his laid-back California style, he could usually be seen cruising around Ventura on his bike with his parrot and longtime companion, Fredrica, on his shoulder.
