Sharon Darlene Hribernick

"January 29, 1957- December 10th, 2021

Sharon was born in Ventura, Ca on January 29th, 1957. She entered this world as a younger twin to her sister Sandra. Sharon attended school in the Oak View and Ventura area and was a 50-year resident of Ventura County. Her daughter Amie was born in 1972. She graduated from Ventura High School in 1975. At Ventura High School she played basketball and was a member of the track team. She completed classes in Early Childhood Education at Ventura College. Her life would be dedicated to serving and working with children in her community.

Sharon worked for the City of Ojai, at the Ojai Recreation Department, for over 30 years. Her long career started as a Summer Rec. Leader. Sharon also managed the Girls Softball league, Teen Rec., the 50+ plus club which was dedicated to the seniors of Ojai. Sharon managed the Special Olympics, the EDI Japanese exchange program, Winter Break programs, Ojai Annual Halloween Haunted house and carnival, and Christmas talent show. Sharon was dedicated to providing a safe, fun, and loving environment for every child. Sharon played softball in both the Ojai and Ventura women and co-ed leagues. She played woman's soccer, never turned down a game of horseshoes, and enjoyed playing in the Ventura Corporate games for UPS.

Sharon worked for UPS for over 25 years. Sharon was proud of her Browns and being a Teamster. She met many people that became life-long friends. Sharon was also a dedicated Ojai Unified School District employee where she worked as a Physical Education teacher at Mira Monte Elementary School.

Between the Ojai Rec Department, Mira Monte School, and her coaching youth sports, she knew nearly every kid, parent, and grandparent in the Ojai Valley. Sharon was known to many as Auntie Sharon and loved planning her great-niece's birthday parties and attending all of their sporting events. Every birthday party, holiday, or special event was over the top with fun and gifts because of Aunt Sharon.

After her retirement from UPS, Sharon moved to Princeton, CA. Her greatest joy was being with her Daughter Amie and Granddaughter Macie. Sharon found herself where she was always the most comfortable, serving children. She began working for the school as an AIDE, substitute, bus driver, and anything else that was asked of her. Sharon coached the girl's softball team and also participated in the local 4H club with her granddaughter. Sharon and Macie were best friends and spent most of their time together. Macie shared her Gramma with the children of Princeton, CA and most will remember her as Gramma Sharon.

Sharon is preceded in passing by her mother, Hilda Cain of Ojai, CA. She is survived by her daughter Amie Johnston (Rodney) and granddaughter Macie Johnston of Princeton, CA, twin sister Sandra Hribernick of Oak View, niece Sarah Wade (Jimmy), and great-nieces Kaylin and Megan Wade. She leaves behind a network of friends and colleagues that she loved like family. Please consider a random act of kindness in honor of Sharon. Sharon devoted her life to helping others and was always kind."
