Thom Potratz

Work life? (e.g., education, first job, occupation): Arizona State undergrad and Univ of Arizona Grad school. Worked in the retail Record business (I know, what's that?) around the West Coast before moving to Santa Barbara. Dumbest thing I ever did was leave there. Moved to NY city and lived in Manhattan, working on Madison Ave, first w/ Ad Agencies and then into Magazine Publishing in Sales, then Marketing and then Mgmt. TIME Mag transferred us to LA before moving back to Madison...and then back to NY for another 5 years, still in Publishing. Gave it all up and moved to the beach in NC.
Family life? (e.g., spouse, kids/grandkids, friends, places lived): Married w/ wife and two daughters. Lived in AZ, California 2x, NYC and Westchester County NY (while working in midtown Manhattan) and now Wilmington, North Carolina since 2001.
Doing today? (e.g., where do you live, working or retired, hobbies, travels): We were raising Corporate brats (you know, vs Army Brats et al), I was traveling both domestically and Internationally for business w-a-y too often so we decided to chuck it all. Our oldest was entering 4th Grade and it was already her 8th or 9th school, incl Pre-School. Now my wife Lois and I have a small Real Estate team along w/ a property mgmt company. No grandkids - just grandpuppies - so we like to travel whenever we can, while we can. The Intracoastal Waterway and Atlantic are minutes from our home so we have a boat and enjoy the water when we can, usually me spending time being unlucky at fishing or just hangin' by the water.
Bucket list? (e.g., plans for the future, travel): Happily there are no big-ticket items left undone but looking forward to more travel, both stateside and domestically. Covid long-haul BS has slowed me the past 2 years but ready to get rockin and rollin again.

Linda Powers (Raymond)

Work life? (e.g., education, first job, occupation): After college in Ohio, I went to medical school in Madison, did my internal medicine residency at UW Hospital, and worked there for 8 years. My family and I then moved to the Wisconsin northwoods (Minocqua) where I practiced for 5 years. (No TV or internet for 5 years was a blessing for the whole family!) We moved to Boston (Brookline) 24 years ago where I practiced and taught in Cambridge at Mount Auburn Hospital. I got my MPH (masters in public health) in 2008. I was fortunate to spend a year in Uganda in 2010-11, working with rural midwives on quality improvement.
Family life? (e.g., spouse, kids/grandkids, friends, places lived): I was widowed in 2007. I have 2 children- Max lives in LA, works in the hip-hop music world, and recently returned to online college with Berklee School of Music. Holiday teaches contemporary Arab art in Doha, Qatar. She has 2 adorable children, Balthazar and Eulalie. Currently, there's just Mamie (13 yo dog) and me at home.
Doing today? (e.g., where do you live, working or retired, hobbies, travels): I retired just before the pandemic and, of course, plans were put on hold. I'm volunteering with immigrants, studying (currently French, tropical medicine, and just restarted pottery), ramping up exercise, and expanding networks.
Bucket list? (e.g., plans for the future, travel): I would love to work internationally(especially Africa) in health or public health- so if people have contacts, please let me know!

Stephanie Quinn

Work life? (e.g., education, first job, occupation): Attended UW Madison but never decided on a education destination. Worked in the medical field for over 40 years with my last job as the Administrator for a surgery center and GI practice in Southern California.
Family life? (e.g., spouse, kids/grandkids, friends, places lived): Married soon after high school and have a beautiful daughter who has given me the opportunity to be called “Nana”. Divorced and then married my late husband who passed in 2017. Lived in Southern California for 20 years then moved to a farm in Southwest Washington State. When my daughter decided to have the kids, I sold the farm and moved to Eastern Idaho. She, of course, moved to Maine…..sound familiar?
Doing today? (e.g., where do you live, working or retired, hobbies, travels): After coming back to the Madison area, I bought a house in Sauk County but discovered my family wasn’t too keen on the hour drive. I moved to Fitchburg in 2022 and slowly made the adjustment to a more “city” life.

I retired from the medical field in 2013 allowing me more time to cook, garden, weave and knit.
Bucket list? (e.g., plans for the future, travel): Hope to stay healthy and see my family as often as possible. Do a little traveling and try to learn something new as often as I can.

Family life? (e.g., spouse, kids/grandkids, friends, places lived): I knew Katie L'Heureux in high school, but she doesn't remember meeting me ;( So our classmates (Tom Goldsworthy and Kathy Olson) planned a few times for us to get together, and we're glad that they did. We got married in 1979, and moved around the country, finally settling back in Madison in 1988. We have 4 kids and 6 grandkids, and they live in Elm Grove (Jake), Denver (Ric), Minneapolis (Katie), and Breckenridge CO (Beth).
Doing today? (e.g., where do you live, working or retired, hobbies, travels): My wife Kate (aka Katie L'Heureux) and I are living in Madison, in the same house where we raised our four kids. I officially "retired" in July 2019, but came back to work part-time, teaching and directing a preventive medicine residency program. I then "re-retired" in July 2023, spending only 1/2 day/week as an emeritus professor. I spend a lot of time at Blackhawk Ski Club, just west of Madison, riding my mountain bike and helping build and maintain the trails.
Bucket list? (e.g., plans for the future, travel): We plan to spend more time traveling, visiting family and friends -- that is assuming that we don't have another global pandemic. We also look forward to re-connecting with former West High classmates, more than just at the annual picnics.
