Jane Warncke (Price)

Work life? (e.g., education, first job, occupation): I worked as an anesthesia technician in surgery at St Mary's Hospital in my twenties. I then moved to California and worked in South San Francisco in the insurance industry (workers' comp). I worked 30 years in that career, ending at West Bend Insurance in Madison, WI, and retiring in 2020.
Family life? (e.g., spouse, kids/grandkids, friends, places lived): I was married in California to an amazing man with a 5 year old daughter. We thought Madison, WI was a more appropriate place to raise her and moved back here and have been here ever since. She is now 37 years old and works as a speech & language pathologist in upper Michigan. My husband has been at Sub Zero/Wolf in Fitchburg for 20 years.
Doing today? (e.g., where do you live, working or retired, hobbies, travels): I am living in Madison and retired. I love to entertain, cook, journal, read, some photography, decorate and am very much into family, holidays and creating memories. I am a regular volunteer at the American Family Children's Hospital, where I take my dogs to visit the children.
Bucket list? (e.g., plans for the future, travel): Bucket List: I have always wanted to treat my extended family to an all-inclusive tropical vacation (nieces, nephews and their kids). It looks like it will happen next year.

We have many grand dogs both near and far. As for places lived - for better or for worse: the west side of Madison!

Helene Whittingham (Larson)

Work life? (e.g., education, first job, occupation): First job? Worked as a waitress at Renneboham Drug Store-Nakoma Plaza. Quite a learning experience! I gradually moved into the nursing field with my first job at UW Madison’s Children’s Hospital. I worked in Pediatric Rehabilitation Nursing in Cleveland Ohio- both in hospital and community visitation programs for 29 years. Made the decision to be available to my own family eight years ago when my daughter was expecting twins.
Family life? (e.g., spouse, kids/grandkids, friends, places lived): Have been married to Tim for 47 years. Used to think people attending their 50Th high school reunions or celebrating 50 years of marriage were “really old.” And here I am…. I am fortunate to have both of my kids living in the area, with 8 grandchildren to enjoy.. Having enjoyed fun times with Jan and Brian Klock on week-end trips and visits to Wisconsin.
Doing today? (e.g., where do you live, working or retired, hobbies, travels): I live in Cleveland, Ohio, enjoy the diversity of our community with multiple ethnicities. Memorable trips were to New York City and the Dominican Republic 4 years ago. Our son-in-law served as tour guide having moved to NYC from the Dominican Republic as a child. I developed an interest in genealogy/family heritage. Most memorable trip was to Denmark Oct. 2019.
Bucket list? (e.g., plans for the future, travel): At the beginning of Covid we bought some property on a small lake near St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin. Hope to build on it and have it for a family gathering spot. Love to be in nature and the simple pleasures of life. Having peace and serenity with whatever life brings is at the top of my bucket list.

I taught elementary school off and on in Waukesha, Brookfield, and New Berlin (taking 8 years off to be a stay-at-home Mom). I received my Masters degree from Concordia-Wisconsin. I retired from my career as a Principal of a Milwaukee central city school in 2010.

Ryan and his wife Carolyn live in Charleston, SC, (soon to move to Duluth, MN as his wife just accepted a position as an orthodontist there).
We have lived mostly in the Waukesha County area for the past 40 years with the exception of 5 years in Cincinnati.
This past November, 2020 we moved back to Madison after my husband's retirement from Baird. It's great to be back closer to my family!
Doing today? (e.g., where do you live, working or retired, hobbies, travels): Since I retired, I have been involved with prisoner re-entry programs helping to start Partners In Hope in Milwaukee. It's been meaningful and hard work. I am still involved there and hoping to do something like-minded here in Madison.
Bucket list? (e.g., plans for the future, travel): My husband and I enjoy traveling. We have 48 states and 34 countries logged.
We spent our first winter at our place in Florida this year. Hopefully that's a new tradition!

I worked in Texas, Guatemala, Mexico City, and the inner-city of Philadelphia before moving to the Midlands of England. I served there for 6 years. When I returned to Madison in 1994, I cared for my aging parents until they passed. Heather Wright (Abrams)

Work life? (e.g., education, first job, occupation): I got a BA in Journalism and MBA in Marketing Research from UW Madison. Worked in marketing and marketing research positions in Chicago and Washington DC until I figured out the cutthroat world of corporate America wasn’t for me. So I got another masters degree in Library Science and became a children’s librarian, which I remain to this day. I’m thinking about retiring but I really love the books and the kids and the stimulation of helping people find information. Running book clubs, doing storytimes, conducting Socrates Cafes, getting people thinking and reading—it’s a great way to earn money.
Family life? (e.g., spouse, kids/grandkids, friends, places lived): Married in 1984, and have two kids, a daughter in New York and a son here in Maryland. We divorced in 2011, and I remarried in 2012. Sadly, my second husband died in 2018. No grandkids yet, but I remain optimistic.
Doing today? (e.g., where do you live, working or retired, hobbies, travels): I live in Rockville, Maryland, a suburb of Washington DC. Still working, but COVID changed the way libraries do business, and it’s not as fun any more. And why work if it’s not fun? So I’m seriously thinking about retiring and maybe moving back to Madison. I do come back frequently to visit friends and family. My hobbies include reading, of course, and writing. Keeping healthy with walking and occasional swimming.
Bucket list? (e.g., plans for the future, travel): When I retire, I intend to travel everywhere! And to hopefully do more writing. I have some interesting ideas for new careers, so we shall see where these ideas take me.

Bucket list? (e.g., plans for the future, travel): Would like to travel more.
