Work life? (e.g., education, first job, occupation): Spent 8 years in Bozeman, Montana working as the Lift Manager at Bridger Bowl in winters and as a Fly Fishing Guide in the summer. Moved back to Madison in 1986 with my spouse Sally and started our business, Bruner Realty and spent the next 35 years Developing, Managing and Selling Real Estate.
Family life? (e.g., spouse, kids/grandkids, friends, places lived): Married my wife Sally in 1986. We have 3 children and 6 grandkids that all live in the Madison area. Our 2 sons, Tyler and Stacy purchased our business in 2020. We still participate on a very limited basis. Our grandkids range from 1-12 years old, 3 boys and 3 girls and we could stay totally busy watching their sports events. Very grateful. Our youngest son, Stacy was Bucky Badger for 4 years while at the UW.
Doing today? (e.g., where do you live, working or retired, hobbies, travels): Sally and I live off Monroe St only a block from Camp Randall. We for the most part are retired and love to travel. We spend much of the summer at our "Up North" home in Hayward, Wi and we spend most of our of our winters in the Baja on the Sea of Cortez in a town called Loreto which has very friendly people, great fishing, beautiful mountains and golf to keep us busy. We had a German exchange student in 2006 and have become very close with his family and have also grown very fond of visiting Europe.
Bucket list? (e.g., plans for the future, travel): We are always looking for a new adventure. Fishing trip, golfing trip whatever comes along and of course we look forward to the 50th West High Class Reunion. Hope to see you there!

Work life? (e.g., education, first job, occupation): I enrolled at U.W. Madison in 1972 after Highschool and went for 2 years . I took Ag classes, Botany, entomology, ( but did not find my niche so decided to stop at the end of my 2 nd year and work for awhile.) After my youngest child Rose was born I took classes at MATC and became a Nursing Assistant where I worked for the MMSD in the nurses office & also did some Hospice care. I have worked at many restaurants over the years....serving and Baking while raising my kids and after. (Andrea's on the square that became L 'etoille, Joseph's french Cafe, Ovens of Brittany, Bluephie's for 6 years, Zuzu cafe as a Baker for 11 years to name a few.

I also worked at Red Caboose daycare center as a sub teacher and a cook. I did home daycare for children so I could be at home with my kids while they were in Pre and Grade school... Also did lots of Daycare for friends and family.

My First Real job was at Napper's grocery store on Monroe St when I was 16 but I did not last very long. The Nappers were 2 sisters and a brother and they were all really grumpy and very intimidating to me! ( Courtney Moffatt and Scott Luther worked there too!) I am now retired.
Family life? (e.g., spouse, kids/grandkids, friends, places lived): In 1977 I married David Grindrod and we bought a house on the East side of Madison while Dave was in school at UW Madison and working. We lived there for 5 years & had My 2 oldest children 2 years apart there. When Andy was 4 and Kate was almost 2 We moved to West Lawn Ave on Madison's near West side. My Dad had grown up on West Lawn Ave too and went to Edgewood grade school & High school ( like a good Irish Catholic boy) We had our youngest child Rose at that house on West Lawn. That was a wonderful neighborhood to raise our kids. We had shops near by and Wingra Park plus Lake Wingra just down the block and walking distance to the Henry Vilas Zoo and Vilas beach. My kids went to Randall and Emerson schools and then West and Malcolm Shabazz. It was a wonderful life there. I loved having my kids and my Family is very important to me.

Dave and I eventually divorced after our kids were grown but we are still close friends and Grandparent together. We try to help eachother when possible. The Grindrods' are still my family.

Dave and I have 4 Grandkids , 3 wonderful Grandsons and one Exceptional Granddaughter.

I have spent most of my life in Madison and also spent summers at our cottage on Lake Michigan by Sheboygan WI. Our family cottage was owned well before I was born and 5 generations of our family has had fun swimming and baking in the sun on the white sands of Lake Michigan., catching frogs and crayfish in the creek behind our cottage ...It was a wonderful childhood. My sister Judy and I now own it and rent it out when my family or hers are not there ourselves.
Doing today? (e.g., where do you live, working or retired, hobbies, travels): Today I live at our small farm near Juda / Monroe WI. I and Clarence, my partner of 11 years are both now retired. I traveled when younger but we are home bodies now. We have to stay put more because of our livestock and our lifestyle. I garden some and raise Muscovy ducks ,Guinea Fowl and chickens to sell & also sell their eggs. Our Menagerie includes 2 hopefully pregnant Scottish Highland cows ( a Bull is visiting right now) also we have 2 elderly horses and an older Belgian Mule, 2 goats, A German Shepard, 2 cats and a lot of baby guinea keets, chicks, adult guinea fowl, adult chickens, 9 ducks and 2 Guard geese.
Bucket list? (e.g., plans for the future, travel): I would love to learn conversational Spanish ( learn Spanish well enough to converse)????Perhaps do some traveling in the U.S and if we get it together Clarence and I will visit Germany ( for him) and I would love to see Ireland , Scotland and all of Great Britain.

I would also like to take riding lessons and become a better horseback rider.

Also spend as much time with my Grandkids as I can!!

Work life? (e.g., education, first job, occupation): I learned to make jewelry from Ms. Bowman in the Art Metal class at West High. I liked it and kept at it through college. Many years and many stories later my wife, [Monika ! ] and I started our own jewelry store in Rockford Illinois, where we have won national awards [ Coolest Store in America ! ] as well as Rockford's best jeweler award locally for the past 10 years. Clodius&Co. Jewelers, ClodiusCo.Com has more info , pictures & etc
Family life? (e.g., spouse, kids/grandkids, friends, places lived): After 38 years a bachelor, a young lady came along and captured my heart, Monika, we had our first date in August of 1992, I proposed in September and we were married in November. The number of things congruent to us and our meeting is amazing like a Hallmark movie or something.

We currently enjoy our two children, Christopher and Annabel, two Boxer dogs, Benno and Augustus.
Doing today? (e.g., where do you live, working or retired, hobbies, travels): Today? Still working and looking towards working less. Our business will absorb as much time as we make available. Our work has included travel, [currently on a Covid pause] to attend shows, domestic and international and often we will vacation a bit along side of the shows.

Monika is a great gardener creating lush flower beds & etc.. She also trains our dogs, in-service work as well as agility and scent work. I help with some of that as well. We enjoy automobiles, music, wine and cooking [ grilling and barbeque], travel, museums and art.

As with many of us we are having some health "bumps in the road" so were spending more time trying to figure out what it all means and what choices that will lead us to.
Bucket list? (e.g., plans for the future, travel): A 50th high school reunion ! To see our children continue on their journey's, marriage, careers [ Annabel is in Med school right now]

Work life? (e.g., education, first job, occupation): I spent 20 years as a child and family therapist and then made the change to become a Master Naturalist. My work shifted to understanding the ecosystems we live in, engaging children and families in appreciating their world and the social justice work so badly needed in this domain. Art making underscores this whole investigation.
Family life? (e.g., spouse, kids/grandkids, friends, places lived): I have 3 children and 2 grandchildren. My spouse, David, and I live in Milwaukee but also retreat to a property in Sauk County that my parents bought in 1968. We continue to nurture this special place and are actively promoting restorative practices to restore native plants.
Doing today? (e.g., where do you live, working or retired, hobbies, travels): Well I retired and then Covid hit - so all the dreams of classes and travel have been paused. I am managing 2 environmental education projects as a volunteer. Hobbies include biking, running, gardening, fabric art and mosaics. Political action is very important and I am the Board Chair for the Institute for Conservation Leadership. Lots of anti-racist education this winter.
Bucket list? (e.g., plans for the future, travel): TRAVEL and hike and bike. Looking at U.S. for now, really hope to travel abroad next year if possible.
