She is survived by her husband Lee Green of 45 years, her son Jason (Renee) Green, daughter Nicole (Angelo) Zimbardi, and grandchildren Sidney and Braden Green, Nina and Zoe Zimbardi; sisters Cheryl Forbes, Sandra Forbes and Paula Forbes; nephews Dario (Brittany) and Ramon Otero, and Solon Ellis; great nephew and nieces Dario Jr and Arianna Otero, Zora Wright; and brothers-in-law Pete Otero and David Ellis; as well as a host of extended family, and dear friends.

Janet was born in Toronto Canada on June 18, 1954, and moved with her family to Madison Wisconsin in 1961. She graduated from Madison West Highschool in 1971. Janet was one of the first Black cheerleaders at West and a teen model for HS Manchester's department store.

Janet pursued her dream of becoming a teacher, graduating from Edgewood College in 1975. She met Lee during college, and they married on July 12, 1980. Shortly thereafter, Lee and Janet moved to Columbus, Ohio where they raised two wonderful children.

Janet was a gifted and creative teacher who impacted the lives of so many children for over 34 years. She retired in 2011 and pursued another lifelong dream of becoming an artist. Janet's art has been shared all over the United States. Her art pieces brighten every room where they hang. Janet's hand painted wall murals are a window to her whimsical energy and magnetic soul.
