Sofia’s Smiles is part of our Central Cares focus for 2024

During pregnancy, Mark & Jaime Dell’aglio learned their baby was diagnosed with Trisomy 18, a spontaneously occurring life-threatening genetic disorder. Faced with many difficult decisions, they remained hopeful and against the odds, Sofia Rose was born full term. The family spent three heartbreaking, yet wonderful days together.

Babies typically start to smile around six weeks. Seeing Sofia smile was one of the many moments that Sofia’s family did not experience. As a token of gratitude to all the incredible medical and support staff who provided care for the entire family during their time in the NICUs, Sofia’s Smiles was conceived, a campaign to create smiles that will live on in Sofia’s honor.

Sofia’s Smiles will focus on raising donations for Project Sweet Peas, an organization that provides support to children and their families in NICUs across the country. Working with Project Sweet Peas is a tangible way we can improve the lives of children and parents who are faced with difficult situations like Mark and Jaime. It is our mission to help others and instill hope where there is heartache, one smile at a time.
