Michael Harrison Bendall made his appearance on stage in Dallas TX on March 5th 1962. Producers were Fred Harrison Bendall and Linda Sue Bendall. It wasn't a speaking role at first but he quickly stole the show. It was evident that he was perfectly cast for that character as he remained in that role for the next 59 years. He went to schools in Greenville, Lone Oak and Mesquite. Right after high school Mike was directed to join the United States Navy. Something that he did proudly. He served as a boiler technician and firefighter aboard the USS Ajax. During that time, he completed two Westpac’s and earned his Golden Shellback. He traveled the Pacific and Indian oceans and saw many foreign places. He was mugged twice during that time. Once in Chicago and once in the Philippines. This served him well as years later as he knew firsthand what to do when he got beat up by Chuck Norris. (Yes, you read that right). Also, while in the Navy he worked as a news anchor for the site-TV news on-board his command. After serving proudly he found himself back in Greenville. There he became associated with a theatre group known as The Blackland Players and scored the role of a Russian spy in the comedy "See How They Run". The candle that was lit that day burned hotter than a thousand studio lights. What followed included many plays, TV and movie parts. Including the lead in "Barefoot in the Park", "Nanyehi", "The Odd Couple". He's been in movies like "The Gambler V" with Kenny Rogers, "Dallas- The Early Years", "Dangerous Curves”, “The President's Man", several cult classics as "Nail Gun Massacre", "Bobby Speaking" and "In Service to America". Television wasn't left out by him either with roles on the show "Dallas", "Strong Against Crime", Wishbone", twenty-one episodes of "Walker, Texas Ranger" with another 170 "Walker" episodes doing utility stunt/driving work. This being only a partial list of his works. Recently he performed in the TV Series "Washington's Armor”, “Vindication" and "American Underdog", all coming to TV soon.
With all these credits under his belt Mike would agree that his most rewarding and hardest roles were as a son, brother, husband, father and friend. It wasn't easy for him. He suffered with several Demons through the years. He stumbled at times and failed often. It took some time but Mike eventually discovered that the cure for a bad case of demons is a big dose of Jesus Christ. He also found out that it works best when taken daily. He was never completely cured but then none of us are. He worked hard to perfect his character and made many friends along the way. He had a large fan club. Mike's efforts finally paid off when on March 27, 2021 he was offered the role that he was destined for. He will be playing the part of "himself" in the feature "Heaven", a "Godly Production" at the Paradise Theatre. Sitting in the audience will be his mother Linda Bendall Mann, his grandparents Ruel Harrison Bendall and Emma Bendall and grandparents Walter and Fay Little. Waiting outside are his parents Fred and Barbara Bendall, son Vaughn Bendall, sister Lisa Thompson, brother Perry Bendall, sister Shelley Poole, brother Steven Bendall, brother Alan Bendall, brother James Bendall, brother Charles Fite, brother Clay Sandlin, aunts, cousins, many nieces, nephews and many friends. As a reminder, all are invited to attend Mike’s final curtain call, but there is no rush. This is a show that never ends. Mike's Fan Club met one final time at Lynch Funeral Home on April 24, 2021 at 2 p.m. 4238 TX-34 S, Greenville, TX 75402.
