Born in Ocala, Florida on January 18, 1957, Murray was the eldest son of Willadean Chaney Reams and James Neil Reams. Early in his childhood the family moved back to North Carolina where Murray graduated High Point Central High School. After graduation Murray attended the University of North Carolina Greensboro and studied music. Murray was an exceptionally talented musician and although he was gifted with the ability to play numerous instruments, his passion was percussion. In the years following, while on tour, Murray traveled extensively throughout the US and abroad performing professionally. Upon retiring from playing professionally he pursued his love of literature and attained his BA in English from Guilford College. He then attended Wake Forest University where he gained his MA in Religious Literature and studied with noted translator Allen Mandelbaum. Murray was employed at American Express, TRS until 2011 and it was there that he met his wife Kimberly Glance Reams. Murray continued his corporate career with Bank of America as Vice President; Sr. Business Intelligence Analyst until his retirement in 2015. Murray was a biblical scholar. It was his desire to be aligned in faith and conduct and to fulfill God's will. He spent his adult life as a disciple of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a gifted teacher, researcher, and writer of the Word whose efforts impacted countless. He held weekly Bible studies and exposed many to the gospel whether through his daily life or during study. Murray truly cared for others more than himself and his servant's heart radiated in all he did. Murray loved his family immensely. Above all he cherished spending quality time with his son Samuel and daughter Emmy. Murray will be immeasurably missed as a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, friend, and follower of Christ.
