Mrs. Frenchie Denise Armstrong Rainey, 54, of High Point, NC, was called home to live with her Heavenly Father, on Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at High Point Regional Hospital.

She was born on August 10, 1956, in High Point, NC, to Johnny Cypress Armstrong and Lizzie Allen Armstrong. Frenchie graduated from High Point Central High School in 1975. She was a former employee with the High Point Enterprise and often worked at the voting polls during elections. Frenchie tool great pride in contributing to the community and enjoyed giving a positive greeting to everyone she encountered. She was an active and faithful member of Solid Rock Baptist Church and delighted in serving as the Choir Director for the Spiritual Choir, singing on the Mass Choir and serving on the Usher Board.

Phil Bailey, 61, of High Point, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at his home.
Born March 28, 1957, in Valparaiso, FL, he was a son of the late Edgar Lee Bailey, Sr. and the late Dorothy Jones Bailey. Mr. Bailey was a commercial photographer with Albion Associates.
He is survived by his son, Phillip Bailey and wife Dana; daughter, Krystyn Paridee and husband Shane all of Grands Rapids, MI; sister, Julie Beck and husband Bill of High Point, and Rebecca McEnally and husband Richard of New Bern; grandchildren, Savannah Paridee, Landon Paridee, Maybelline Bailey, and Parrish Bailey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Edgar Bailey, Jr.

John Brandon

John Brandon: son, father, husband, brother, uncle; passed away peacefully Thursday morning. His mother was at his side. John moved to High Point in 1962, at the age of 5. It was important to John to give back to the city that had been his home. As a city planner, he helped author a land use plan that was in effect for many years. As a developer, he brought thousands of acres of office and warehouse space to High Point, with environmentally certified buildings, park like landscaping, and public art. He also served as chairman of the High Point planning and zoning commission. He was very proud of his roots, and received the “key to the city” for his efforts.

Pastor Gregory Donnell Burris departed this earthly life on July 11, 2024. He was born on February 20,1957 in York County, SC to Nathanial Burris and Johnnie Mae Meeks. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Louise Stroman, his maternal grandparents James and Marie Burris, his sister Barbara Meeks.
Gregory Donnell Burris graduated from high school and entered the US Marine Corp. He served 4 years of active duty. After the military he became a traveling contracted Carpenter. He later started his own business in furniture and appliances. Greg entered the ministry in the late 90's. Greg later joined the Ministerial staff at Pearson Memorial AME Church. He was a loving servant, a cheerful giver, a great teacher and a passionate leader. Pastor Greg was always willing to help others even in his declining health. He truly loved the Lord. He had a passion for gardening. He was the ultimate Minnesota Timberwolves basketball fan. He was known to be a sharp dresser, true gentleman and never met a stranger. Greg was a loving father, brother, uncle and friend. We will miss him dearly. His memory will live in our hearts forever. Greg leaves to cherish his memory his children, Darius Rainey of High Point, LaTia' Burris of High Point, Cassidy Boyce of Greensboro; sister, Gwen Burris of High Point; grandchildren, Alexis Reed, Damari Burris, Trerion Burris, Layden Boyce; great granddaughter, Callie Reed, Aunts Ruby Johnson, Helen Coltrane and Mildred Gordan; his spiritual son and daughter Minister Cedric Duley and wife Tracie and hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Steve Clark

Obituary:
Mr. Steven Devon Clark, a proud, loving husband and father, returned home to Jesus on January 2, 2021 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 25, 1957 in Guilford County, a son to Willis Devon Clark and Eula Coffey Clark.
Steve was first and foremost a humble disciple of God who deeply loved his family and friends. Steve enjoyed reading his Bible and teaching his family and others about the Word of God. He often reminded them to always put The Lord first and to be thankful in all situations. Throughout his life he held an unwavering faith in God and was always eager to share God with those who surrounded him. Steve loved spending time with his family and dogs. Steve was always there to offer a helping hand to anyone in need. He was often thought of as the man that would do anything for anyone. He was loving, kind, gentle and had a truly special way to tell jokes. He was a true Pittsburgh Steelers fan. An interest in which he shared deeply with his son. No matter what was going on the two never missed gameday. Steve loved playing tennis with his “tennis buddies” and family. He had played professionally and won many tournaments. He was a former tennis teacher at Oak Hollow Tennis Center. Steve truly enjoyed finding God in nature. He loved the feeling of standing on the top of a mountain. He enjoyed the powerful roll of the ocean and was captivated by the wonders of outer space. Above all though, he loved snow. He would get excited at the first indication of snow in the local forecast. Spending time with his family in the snow was one of his favorite things to do. He was also a member of The Summit Church. Steve worked in a family-owned fabric business for over 30 years.

Pam Crowder

Beloved wife, mother and grandmother Pamela Crowder Sloop passed away early Tuesday, April 28th. A devoted matriarch, Mrs. Sloop was happiest when surrounded by family and her beloved pets. She was a partner with her husband supporting the family business, Sloop Fire Extinguisher Sales and Service. Pam enjoyed bird watching, gardening, cross stitching, home improvement projects, community service and was involved in many Emmanuel Lutheran Church activities. She actively supported High Point Christian Academy and its athletic and academic programs. Pam was born on May 29th, 1957 in Erwin, TN. She is the daughter of the late Jack Crowder and Loretta Cox Crowder. Mrs. Sloop is survived by her husband Ronald K. Sloop of the home and two children; Robert H. Sloop and wife Morgan of High Point and Jacob D. Sloop of the home and two step daughters; Kim Sloop Mathai and husband Michael of High Point and Dr. Sue Sloop and fiance Gregg Fellows of Atlanta

Michael Davis

Mr. Michael Anthony Davis made his transition from this life to be with the Lord on Feb. 19, 2022 at The Shannon Gray Rehabilitation Center in Jamestown, NC. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on Jan. 7, 1957, a son of the late Ernest Davis and Rosa Johnson Davis Williams. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Lee Davis, and a sister, Ernestine D. Rogers. Fondly called “Mike” by family and friends, he was educated in the public schools of Guilford County and was a graduate of High Point Central High School, Class of 1975. Mike was employed with Patrician Furniture Co. as an upholsterer. He was a sharp dresser, loved his 300 2X Limited Twin Turbo, loved to travel, and loved his grandchildren. Surviving to cherish precious memories are a son, Michael A. Bethea; a daughter, Tandrea Bostic; a host of grandchildren; a brother, Robert A. Davis; two aunts, Ruth L. Caldwell and Irene P. Smith; an uncle, Pastor Calvin T. Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
