Mike was the first blind person I ever met. I was one of the people who helped him get from class to class - he would hold on to my elbow as we made our way thru the halls. I never got to know him real well but we had a good time together. I think he might have been the one who turned me on to Don Imus, back when Imus was funny.

Tyrone was my cousin and master of the BBQ grill. Tyrone was the Chef for many of my parents backyard BBQ’s. We grew up together and shared many fond memories. Tyrone was strong and protective of family. This skinny kid was fortunate to have a cousin, having his back.

Hampton and his brother David were my teammates in Little League, and their father was one of the coaches (as was mine). Later on he was the first person I ever saw carrying a boombox. And of course none of us will ever forget "Reverend Bailey"!

Hi Grace, I texted you on the day you passed away...no wonder I did not hear back. I wanted to know if you had gotten your ticket to the reunion and to catch up, since it had been some time since we talked. I regret we never visited each other as we said we would. I regret you did not get to retire from work. It has been a pleasure having your friendship from an early age. I did not know then that you were born here in GA and moved to NJ. We have that in common as I was born in MS and moved to NJ at the age of 6. I called both places home during my school years. You take beautiful pictures and you still look the same.! I love your silver hair! So long dear friend. You will be missed by so many. You have done well in service to your fellow man and woman. I know God is pleased.

I remember at the reunion in 2010 our conversation. I still wear a necklace that has been one of my favorite necklaces all my life since High School. You gave it to me. I couldn’t remember why- why did you give me such a wonderful, unique necklace? Your response was so beautiful and you told me it was because of kindness- I loved what you told me about the conversation with your Mom. Resting peacefully and also gone too soon. I will wear that necklace in memory of you and others who we remember here - thank you.

If you only knew us at PHS, you might be surprised that Roger and I were friends, but we were, for the simplest of reasons - we were neighbors. From 5th grade to 9th we were part of a tight-knit group in the neighborhood. There was a tree in my back yard that he liked to climb; I can picture him up there. We went our own ways as we grew up but were always on good terms. At the 20-year reunion when I showed up with long hair and a mustache, Roger was the first person to recognize me. RIP old friend.

I will never forget when Stephen Jones told me about the phone call about your brain cancer. We were always passing friends....but I remember once, when you worked at Baskin Robbins...I walked in for a Malt. Bobby, I loved malts....and you made me the best Malt I have ever tasted in my life! So funny how a malt ordered anywhere else could still bring you into my memory. Smiles (and doesn't your picture just show it!), seeking enjoyment....that is how I remember you and my friend....you were gone too, too soon ...it can still make me tear.

4/5 Wow it's so much to say about Tina but will make it short, been knowing Tina all my life, beautiful friend she was, but I haven't seen her in awhile once I move to NC, we reconnected by joining the committee for our 50th class reunion, we talk about what kind of decorations we were gonna have for our reunion amongs other things, Tina spoke her mind and was a beautiful person inside out, she love helping people and always doing a lot of events and volunteering in so many things that usually help out others, this is so hard for us all, but we will keep her spirit alive at the reunion because thats how she would have wanted it to be, miss by all love by many, rest eternally our dear classmates and friend????⚘️????

This year working with Tina was a tribute to her spirit. She was of good humor, always had a kind word for all she met, played hostess with mostess in all venues: on zoom, at the park, at her birthday party, the Valentine’s Day dance AND she PARTIED. Bless you T

Tina and I go way, way back, back to at least elementary school, probably before. My mother and her father were friends. I can’t count the number of sandwiches I ate from Johnny’s Corner. It was nice reconnecting on Facebook and working with her on the Reunion Committee. I too am saddened by her sudden transition. And I’m heartbroken that she will not be at the reunion she worked so hard to plan.

In the late 1990s, I had the pleasure of discovering that my childhood classmate Tina was working in the office at Cook School where my children were students. Fast forward to 2023, Tina and I ended up reconnecting as we worked together on the committee to plan our 50th Class Reunion. She was so eager for this reunion to be the best one ever. Despite numerous challenges to her health, Tina was a vibrant, optimistic force of nature who lived her life and made future plans, assured that she would be well enough to fulfill them all. Knowing that she will not be with us in September at an event that she spent countless hours helping to plan is a cruel twist of fate. Rest in peace, childhood friend and fellow organizer. You shall not be forgotten.

I am saddened by Tina’s passing. Only recently reviving old friendships, her passing will leave an empty place in my heart. I found her to be full of life, enthusiasm, commitment and in true NJ girl style a force to be reckoned with. Rest in peace my friend.

Brother John died from cancer on June 28, 2023. He was a Prosecutor, Lead Guitar Player, lifeguard advocate for Special Olympics swimmers and certified member of the South Counties (NJ) Amateur Radio Association, monitoring and notifying NOAA of natural disasters. We miss him so much.

John and I both played drums in the school band at Maxson. He was much better at it than I was. He learned how to tune the timpani, which I never even attempted.

My father and yours were friends so I guess we were destined to become friends too although we met in school. You always had a bright smile on your face like you knew something so good it made you light up. You were a kind and thoughtful person and will be missed so much.
