Joseph Shero

Obituary for Joseph B. Shero Jr.
Joseph B. Shero Jr., 67, of Mentor, passed away May 26, 2023, peacefully surrounded by his family.

He was born December 17, 1955 in Cleveland. He grew up in Wickliffe with his parents and six siblings. Joe graduated from John Carrol University, where he met his wife Mary Beth in the fall of 1977. They were married in August 1978, and spent more than 44 happy years together.

He was a proud veteran of the US Army who served his country for many years, including in Desert Storm. Outside of his military service, he worked for several decades as a leader in manufacturing operations. Joe’s early retirement allowed him to spend more time with his family, read, and fine-tune his cooking skills.

Joe was a devoted and proud father to his three kids; he would do anything for them. He worked hard to provide for his children and supported them in all their educational undertakings. He instilled in them the value of hard work.

In the last decade, Joe’s greatest joy was being Pap Pap to his grandkids. He saw his grandchildren often and almost never missed one of their events, showing them unwavering love and support.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Beth Shero (Paulozzi); children, Nicole (Michael) Fiorelli, Joey Shero, and Michael (Gemma) Shero; grandchildren, Amber, Braxton, Nova, Ella, and Landon; mother, Margaret Shero; siblings, Karen (Terry) Rotter, Peggy (Mark) Smith, Ruth (Rusty) Holler, Laura (Bill) Henry, and Bill (Maggie) Shero; his sister-in-law, Amy Shero; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Shero Sr., and his brother, Sam Shero.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 2023 at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060.

A funeral mass to honor Joe’s life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2023 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 8560 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. (Please meet at the church.)
