Daniel Gillespie Obituary
Daniel R. Gillespie age 83, beloved husband of Carol (nee Benko); loving father of Robert S. Gillespie (Melissa), and John V. Gillespie (Andrea); grandfather of AnnMarie, Flynn, Arden, and the late Nolan; brother of the late Vincent Gillespie; uncle and great-uncle to many.

Dan was born on April 25, 1942 in Cleveland. A lifelong native of Lakewood, he attended St. James Elementary School, St. Ignatius High School, and Ohio University. Following college, Dan continued his journey in education, becoming a high school business teacher at St. Joseph's (now VASJ). Dan eventually left education to become an administrator at University Hospital. When that chapter of his life ended, he opened Gillespie's Pub with his brother, Vince. Dan was a devoted husband, supportive father, and considerate friend.

Funeral Mass Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 11 a.m. at St. James Church, 17514 Detroit Ave. Interment private. FRIENDS RECEIVED AT THE ZEIS-McGREEVEY FUNERAL HOME, 16105 DETROIT AVE. LAKEWOOD, OH 44107 FROM 4-7 P.M. TUESDAY.
