Pat Mountain
1954-12-29 2019-05-05I wanted to let people know that my twin sister Pat passed in 2019 after a short illness. She was an extraordinary musician with a generous heart. After being diagnosed with a brain tumor in her late twenties, Pat returned to UC Berkeley and finished her undergraduate degree in music. In the mid-1980’s, she moved to Massachusetts. There, she married Toby Mountain, whom she had met at Berkeley, and earned a master's degree in music therapy from Lesley University in Cambridge. She worked as a music therapist in mental hospitals in Massachusetts, using her talents to help others heal and find joy through music. Pat's musical knowledge and experience were extensive. She was involved in writing and arranging, accompanying musical theater companies, playing in Bay Area bands, and teaching piano. In addition to music, Pat also spent time volunteering as an ESL tutor, doing ceramics, and was an avid bird watcher. Pat's son Ben, born in 1994, now resides in New York. In 2016, Pat returned to the Bay Area and resided in Benicia. She will always be remembered for her strength, courage, and unwavering spirit in the face of adversity. Her legacy serves as an inspiration to us all to pursue our passions and use our talents to make a difference in the lives of others.
