Comment: After AHS, I earned a BS in electrical engineering from Colorado State University, with emphasis in physics and physical science.

I accepted an offer from Rockwell International to develop high- energy laser instrumentation in SoCal. Great job, but in a location with too many people competing for outdoor recreation.

That brought me back to Colorado, hiring into Martin Marietta, a company I vowed never to work for, based on the post-Apollo downsizing and layoffs during our years at AHS. I spent 35 years at MM/Lockheed Martin, primarily involved with interplanetary scientific exploration (human and robotic); working with every NASA center, all branches of the military, NOAA, DOE, and several 3-letter agencies. I had the privilege of making significant contributions and/or leading several one-of-a-kind missions advancing our understanding of earth’s solar system, and beyond.

Twenty five years after AHS graduation, I began dating a fellow AHS ‘74 graduate, Mette Dahlberg, someone I knew, but didn’t date in high school. We’ve now been married 23 years, and have been “living the dream” ever since!

We spend our winter days looking for “The Perfect Line” and pursuing our quest of traveling the world in search of adventure.

Comment: I had an interesting and fantastic career working for Coors brewing Company (MillerCoors) for 35 years. I retired 10 years ago fearing I would miss my work, but that feeling disappeared quickly!

I am now living my dreams with Ed Sedivy, making the most of every day! Ed and I are just about to finish our dream of skiing the seven continents of the world! Morocco (Africa) will hopefully be checked off our list in February! And there are still so many places and things we want to experience in the years to come! Cheers to the AHS class of ‘74!

Comment: Moved to Santa Rosa California after I graduated from Colorado State University and I'm still here. Really love this community. Married in 1982, divorced in 1992. Have two boys, no grandkids yet. Started my own business consulting business in 2006 and a couple of years ago one of my clients lured me back to full time employment and I'm really enjoying it.

Comment: Howdy,

Damn, Yuck… that yearbook picture is a funky memory. Remember they called it a “shag”? I cut it off not long after moving out of my parents’ house, no point left to make I suppose.

ON THE CAREER FRONT: In 1981 I graduated with two degrees in geophysics, the second with emphasis on applied computer science, such as it was in those stone age days of computing. That’s how I entered the Oil and Gas industry, a hybrid geophysicist and computer scientist. Half of my career was at the Marathon Oil Company Research Center, just a mile down the road from Arapahoe. (As I recall, taking a lap around Marathon was the warm up for the cross-country team’s practice.) When they closed that campus I moved over to Forest Oil for 5 years then Whiting Oil and Gas for 11 more. I morphed myself through several positions following changes in technology, circumstances, and opportunities until ultimately emerging 35 years later as a Zen master of pushing whatever paper that needed pushing. The thrill was looooong gone when just three weeks past my 60th birthday I was invited to a special meeting where they essentially told me “thanks, we love your work, but you’re retired now, get out by noon”. I was planning to retire at age 62, so I saw it as a 2-year vacation, Yay!

Been loving retirement ever since. However, having now finished all those home projects that had been put off for years, I’m sort of empty handed, looking for some new purpose besides being the old guy on the block with the nice lawn. Three different people, who do not know one another, have told me I remind them of Hank Hill; which I admit does make me smile.

ON THE PERSONAL FRONT: I’ve been married to Susie for 46 years. We have a son, 2 daughters, a daughter in law, and 2 grandkids. Luckily, I still live in Littleton, after spending my whole career dodging transfers to Houston, the black hole of the oil business.

In high school I owned a dog, Jasper, who was too big for the suburbs and needed to run. I gave him to the ranch hands at the Grant Ranch, out in the country. Back then it was still owned and operated by the descendants of James Benton Grant, Colorado’s 3rd governor, 1883-1885. But the Grant Ranch is now Racoon Creek golf course, Southwest Plaza Mall, 2 more huge strip malls, 3 small ones, and the Grant Ranch and Governor’s Ranch housing developments. The latter is where I’ve lived since 1983. As I walk the neighborhood trails I still imagine Jasper chasing cows in this same space. Littleton is no longer the place where we grew up. Sigh…

I keep myself occupied with various hobbies including poker, golf, fly fishing, creative writing, and arthritis.

Gee, I hope my dry humor shows through, otherwise this all might sound a little dark. Oh well, who cares, we’re old now and can do whatever we want!

My Warmest Regards to All of You!
