Dirk O’Brien Doty of Centennial, Colorado, was born on November 4, 1955, in Denver and passed away May 23, 2021.

He attended Peabody Elementary, Isaac Newton Junior High, and graduated from Arapahoe High School in Littleton, CO. He started playing football at a young age and continue through to college when a high school knee injury ended his playing career.

Dirk spent his entire life in Denver except to attend Hastings College in Hastings, NE, graduating in May of 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education.

After he completed college, Dirk returned to the Denver area where he was employed by South Suburban Ice Area since 1979. He eventually became the arena’s assistant manager.

Dirk’s love of sports led him to complete in the Highland Games, while proudly wearing his Frazer Crest.

Argus Event Staffing hired Dirk in 1997. He proudly worked the Colorado Buffs and Denver Broncos football games, as well as Denver Nuggets and Denver Avalanche events. Through the years Dirk got to know a lot of the players and was photographed with several players and renowned trophies. He is shown holding the Vince Lombardi trophy in the accompanying photo.

Dirk volunteered his time with the Colorado Parks & Recreation Association and Colorado Association of Recreational Athletics.

He had great fondness for Marble, CO, and went there every Memorial Day for more than 50 years, visiting with family and friends, and fishing.

Dirk was very interested and involved in his three nephews’ lives, attending their sporting events, and graduations.

He is survived by sisters Anneke (Chuck) Doty Green of Ord, NE, Lorna (Kim) Doty Bantock of Centennial, CO, and nephews Christopher Green, and David and Cody Bantock.
