Lisa Hix (Hix)

Marital status: Married
Children: 2
Occupation: College Professor
Comment: My parents encouraged me to go to college a year early, but I transferred my first-year college English and PE credits back so I could graduate with everyone from Caz. My college years led me to a degree in Industrial Design from RISD and a career as a new product designer and engineer. I wanted to work for NASA but the next best thing was designing yachts. I worked for boat builders designing sailing yachts and then for a lighting manufacturing company. I met my husband of 41 years, Jim Kyle, and we have had many adventures including sailing and racing. We have 2 amazing children and a grandchild on the way!
I had many, what my students now call, side hustles, doing consulting in design and exploring the entrepreneurship idea. I caught the academic bug and kept going back and learning including a certificate in yacht design and marine engineering, an MBA (in 2002) and a doctorate degree in Cleaner Production and Pollution Prevention (in 2011). I was recruited into teaching in Higher Ed through the adjunct professor route and really enjoyed the energy of working with college-age students. I realized I needed a doctorate degree to become tenure-tracked, and my research led to developing a re-envisioned Bachelor of Science program in Sustainable Product Design and Innovation at Keene State College, in which I am now a full professor and department chair. The program has grown into pathways in product design, manufacturing engineering, and general engineering, with new initiatives bio-fabrication and precision optics.
My husband and I have lived in Rhode Island, Wisconsin, and now New Hampshire, buying fixer-uppers and doing major and minor renovations along the way. Our current net-zero home we designed and built new, with low impact and local materials (the best we could) and local labor (including a lot of our own). We look for to seeing everyone!
Two Truths and a Lie - Tell us three things you've done since graduation ... but ONE of which is a LIE! At our dinner party your old friends and classmates will have fun guessing which one is the lie: 1. I crossed the Atlantic Ocean, delivering a 40 ft. sailing yacht, that I was designer and project manager on the build. We hit (unexpectedly) 4 gales and a storm. We were rolled once but all survived and safely arrived in Plymouth England.
2. I have a utility patent, along with my husband, on a new energy-efficient and smoother-riding boat hull design.
3. I have hiked many of the mountains in New Hampshire including 4 times to the top of Mount Washington.
*** This is the lie. I have only climbed to the top of Mount Washington once, not four times.

Katherine Johnson (Koerner)

Marital status: Married
Children: 3
Occupation: Interfaith Minister
Comment: Gary and I have been married 43 years, living in Saratoga Springs. I had a rewarding 20 year career as an educational consultant, helping children and adults with learning disabilities raise their IQ, becoming more successful in school. We are so happy that our children all live within an hour. You may wonder, what does an Interfaith Minister actually do? Mostly live as a person who is available for listening, sending prayers, and doing work in the world that lifts up those who have been oppressed.
Two Truths and a Lie - Tell us three things you've done since graduation ... but ONE of which is a LIE! At our dinner party your old friends and classmates will have fun guessing which one is the lie: 1. After 60 years, returned to Africa, where I was born, and sang and danced with the locals in their native language.
2. Walked 225 miles across New York State for the fun of it, in 12 days when I was 56.
3. My educational video on learning disabilities went viral, and currently has over a million views. THIS IS THE LIE! A million views, really?

Two Truths and a Lie - Tell us three things you've done since graduation ... but ONE of which is a LIE! At our dinner party your old friends and classmates will have fun guessing which one is the lie: Served in the Navy and stationed in Hawaii, California and did a Westpac cruise for 9 months overseas. Eric Larsen

Marital status: Married
Occupation: Real estate Management

Jim ‘Mac’ Macaulay

Marital status: Single
Children: 2
Occupation: Retired Military/Emergency Manager
Comment: Mac is living large in California. I retired in 2018 after 40 years of government service for this great country. During my careers in the USAF and with FEMA, I had the opportunity to travel throughout the United States, Europe, Middle East, Asia, and the South Pacific. In retirement, I remain busy with numerous service and veterans' organizations, enjoying cruises, camping, and amateur radio operations.
Two Truths and a Lie - Tell us three things you've done since graduation ... but ONE of which is a LIE! At our dinner party your old friends and classmates will have fun guessing which one is the lie: 1. My family experienced nine Permanent Change of Station (PCS) moves, both stateside and overseas, during my military career. This does not include temporary deployment separations. (Civilian talk: Mandatory moves to work/live on a different base, not including business trips.)

2. I am proficient in ordering beer in seven languages, learned through overseas travel.

3. When I moved to the Bay Area, I lived out of a tent for four months until I located a home in a favorable area that we could afford.

Number 2 is the lie:
I only know two or three phrases to order beer. The universal language of just saying 'Beer please and pointing' has worked 90% of the time for me. Ten percent of the time I get some type of alcoholic drink anyways. Sometimes good, sometimes not. So I look at it as a win-win!

Terry McArdle

Marital status: Married
Children: 3
Occupation: Retired Engineering Tech
Comment: My career was primarily spent in the defense industry, Northrup Grumman/ Amherst Systems, Harris RF Communications, Ultra Maritime with a 14 year period at Kodak sandwiched in there.

Married in 1982 to Gale Worden. We have 3 adult children, Paul, Audrey and Theresa. We are blessed with two Grandkids, Joyce and Nicholas (Audrey’s family) and we hope to see more in the future.

Work has dictated our residence over the years. Stints in Buffalo and Rochester finally led to our current home of twenty years in Canandaigua, NY.
Two Truths and a Lie - Tell us three things you've done since graduation ... but ONE of which is a LIE! At our dinner party your old friends and classmates will have fun guessing which one is the lie: 1. While working in Buffalo, I had a co-worker take me to “Boss Day” at Niagara Falls Air Force Base. He was in the Air Force reserves. This was a Friday before a weekend air show at the base for the public. We got to see multiple aircraft come in for the show along with some other amazing things. The real treat was taking a ride in a C-130 around Buffalo and Niagara Falls while a tethered crewman was standing on the open loading ramp pointing out the sights below.

2. I lived in Florida for close to 2 years and worked in an Irish Pub. This was a hot spot in St. Petersburg that had live music . On a night off, I went to the pub to see a very popular band that was well known around the state. I found a bar stool to sit on next to two guys who were well older than me. So I got talking to the guy next to me for a good portion of the time there while checking out the band. At some point I left and the next day the manager of the pub asked me if I had any idea who they were. I had no idea. Turns out the guy I was talking to was the bass player for The Coral Reefer Band and his buddy was Jimmy Buffet.

3. I once drove from Canandaigua, NY to Austin, TX with my son Paul. He was moving to TX and I decided to help him get his carload of stuff there. You know, share the driving. Time wasn’t on my side, we had to get there as quickly as possible, so we were not getting a hotel to break up the ride. Paul is an amazing sleeper in a car, in fact, he pretty much crashed the entire ride while I drove non-stop (excluding gas and bathroom breaks) to Austin. Oh I took a 20 minute power nap in Texarkana, TX.

#2 Is the lie. Although I spent the night cranking beers with a long haired guy named Harry Daily, who happened to play bass guitar in Jimmy Buffet’s band, Jimmy was a no show…

Two Truths and a Lie - Tell us three things you've done since graduation ... but ONE of which is a LIE! At our dinner party your old friends and classmates will have fun guessing which one is the lie: 1. After I moved to England in 1990, I wrote an advice column for a local paper. This is a lie. After Ask Katy, I never wrote for a newspaper again!
2. When I was introduced to Prince (now King) Charles, I did not curtsey but gave him a firm handshake, causing him to smile (or perhaps wince).
3. I recently sang onstage at the Usher Hall, Edinburgh's premier concert hall, in front of an audience of 1,500. (TBH I was one of 300 singers on the stage!)
