MTN. GREEN - Peter Reeves Berg, our beloved husband, father, son, brother, colleague, neighbor, and friend, unexpectedly returned to live with his spirit brothers and sisters in heaven on April 27, 2000. Pete was 43 years of age.
Upon leaving an enjoyable family birthday celebration dinner for P.J. (Pete's son) the family's continued plans on this earth all changed in an instant. Pete died valiantly by purposely drawing the attention of a desperate man away from his precious daughter and towards himself. Pete's fun loving, easy going manner, his ability to make us laugh, his generosity and kindness, and his willingness to extend a helping hand to all, marked him as an exceptional man in this turbulent world. All who had the opportunity to get to know Pete will miss him deeply.
He was born May 17, 1956 in the Navy Hospital at Jamacia, Queens, NY to Walter and Ann Berg. He grew up in Cazenovia, NY. He married Loydene Hubbard on January 19, 1980. They were sealed as a family in the Salt Lake Temple. They along with their children, P.J. and Whitney, have lived in Mountain Green for the past 12 years.
Surviving are his wife, Loydene; son, P.J.; daughter, Whitney; parents, Walter and Ann Berg; and brothers, Doug (Stephanie), Dwight (Pam).
He served in the French East mission, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. Since his mission he has continued to serve in various callings: teacher in the primary, scouts, young men, and most recently as a councilor of the Cottonwood Creek Elders Quorum Presidency. All who had the privilege to know Pete have been touched by his kindness and sense of humor. Pete's home was open to friends and any in need. His success in business stemmed from an uncompromising work ethic, attention to individual's needs, and honesty. Many of his business relationships became lifelong friends.
Despite suffering a crippling motorcycle accident, Pete surpassed doctors' expectations to enjoy mountain biking, water and snow skiing, basketball, and golf. When one remembers Pete, instantly a smile comes to their face and warmth enters their heart. With the unending help of our loving Father in Heaven, those of us who remain will continue to live our lives with greater hope, faith, and charity. We joyfully anticipate the day we will live together as an eternal family.
