Carlo Stolze
1955-11-21 2023-02-09
Carlo was born in Rome, Italy on November 21, 1955. He graduated from Cazenovia High School in upstate New York in 1974 and then from State University of New York at Oswego in 1978. Carlo travelled across the country with friends to the San Francisco Bay area, where he initially worked in accounts management at several financial institutions. He eventually became vice president of sales for Chronic Disease Solutions and then Director of Marketing and Product Development at Health Services Foundation.
Much of his early life was an adventure - traveling around the world on two separate occasions. Carlo had always been interested in meeting new people and experiencing different cultures. He was a conversationalist, easily striking up conversations with people he would meet. In 1999 on one of his worldwide journeys he met his wife, Oh in Thailand. They began their life together back in California where their daughter Tati was born in 2003, and who became a great source of love and joy in Carlo’s life. She was diagnosed on the autism spectrum and Carlo developed a fierce commitment to her caretaking and well-being.
For the last 20 years Carlo was a caregiver to several important people in his life. Carlo and his brother Ivan supported their father through his end stage of life. Carlo also provided care and support for one of his good friends suffering from early onset Alzheimer’s disease and was generously engaged in his care through his eventual passing.
In June 2022, Carlo embarked on his last adventure - to Africa and Thailand. His goal in Africa was to meet the children of a Rwanda orphanage and determine how he could help with its funding, but he never made it to the orphanage. He developed symptoms and was diagnosed with Glioblastoma in South Africa while staying with a friend in Cape Town who cared for Carlo and facilitated his emergent medical needs in a foreign country.
It was important for Carlo to remain in his home during the last stage of his life. HIs wife Oh and friend Matt provided constant compassionate care for Carlo as the disease progressed. Carlo passed away peacefully on February 9th, 2023.
Carlo built lasting friendships from every chapter of his life and his family appreciates all of your tremendous love and support. He mentioned many times how grateful he was to know so many people who cared so much about him.
