My first day at Shaker I knew no one and was afraid. In my first three classes Otto was sitting near me and as we headed to class four he started up a conversation. He seemed to be friends with many and took me under his wing, showing me how things operated and very kindly welcomed me into his group of friends. Within a few days I felt very comfortable and welcomed, primarily because of Otto's kindness. I was saddened to see his name in this list. Now, in hindsight, I am thankful that I told him how much he had helped me and how I valued his friendship.
