Courtney Sim, 38 will be dancing in this event to raise money for Special Olympics New York.
Born and raised in Guilderland, NY, she has always had strong ties with the community and
everyone in it. In 2019, she took an interest in coaching the Capital District’s Special Olympic
athletes and has never looked back. She has been a coach for the following programs: softball,
floor hockey, powerlifting and triathlon. Her coaching abilities have taken her to the national
stage, as she coached two athletes to gold medals in Orlando in 2022 for the USA Games,
representing Special Olympics New York. Every year, Courtney participates with her powerlifting
team, The ABC Spartans, in the Polar Plunge to help raise money for athletes.
This year, she
will be lacing up her dancing shoes to make an even bigger impact for the athletes in the
community. “I have learned more from my athletes than I could ever teach them” Sim stated.
Her unique bond she has with both athletes and families can be seen in all that she does with
Special Olympics. Her goal is to bring home the top spot for all of the athletes she coaches and
to show them that anything is possible when you put your best foot forward.
His love of dance began at a very early age when his grandmother would drag him on the living room floor as a child during one of her many holiday parties. Her love of dance was intoxicating.
When he moved up to Albany in 2000 he knew he needed dance to be more a part of his life. Since then he has danced across the country, taught at numerous venues, hosted events of all kinds and even owned/co-owned two different dance studios solely dedicated to Latin dance instruction.
He is a father to a wonderful child who is also an avid dancer. Gee ... no surprise there.
¡Baila! Albany is a vision based on one simple premise... To dance is to be happy!
