Pearlie Russell

 Pearlie Guy-Russell was born on February 13, 1929 in Horn Lake, Mississippi to the late Fred Lewis Guy Sr. and Annie Saulsberry-Guy. She departed from us at 9 p.m. on September 9, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital.

Pearlie Guy-Russell accepted Christ at an early age at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Leo Gray Sr. In 1950, Pearlie joined St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Napolean Blake where she was a member of the Usher Board and Mother Board until her decline in health. Pearlie worked for Baptist Hospital for 25 years until her retirement in 1984.

In September 1949, Pearlie married David P. Russell Sr. To this union, eight children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Russell Sr. and two of her children, Katherine R. Doyle and Terry R. Patterson.

She leaves cherished memories to four daughters, Annie Payne, Elvira (Calvin) Richardson, Eleanor (Archie) Belfour and Debbie (Glen) Johnson; two son, David P. Russell Jr. and Harvey (Jean) Richardson; two sisters, Annie Holloway and Eudora (Ira) Kimball; two brothers, Fred Lewis Guy Jr. and Mose (Regina) Guy; three sisters-in-law, Florence Guy, Lola Chillis, and Sarmadah Ali of Buffalo, NY; three aunts, Alma Hunt, Murphateen (Russell) Elion and Viola (Charles) Taylor; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. She also leaves three special friends, Della Richardson, Lena Johnson, and Marie Farrow; and two adopted daughters, who helped to take care of her during her illness, Pamela Guy-Strayhorn and Felicia Sorce.

So much love was given by you.  You had so much patience with all of us.  You instilled in us many many virtues that have and will continue to make our lives better.  The Guy Family has truly been blessed by your presence and your legacy will live on in your children, in your grandchildren, in your family.  Who can find a virtous woman?  The Guy Family found one in Pearlie Guy-Russell.
