The Lewis-Mayfield Reunion is extended to all the descendents of Susie Lewis, who's children were Annie Mae, Georgia, Aquilla, Brunner, and Sylvester a.k.a. "Tot," and Nelson Mayfield and Gertrude Lewis-Mayfield, who's children were Savannah, Dilsey, Rosa Belle, Roy, Lou, Florida, Norman, Elizabeth, & Louella.

 

Being one of the younger generations of the Lewis-Mayfield family, my personal history begins with my grandfather, Brunner Lewis and his wife, Zola Hicks-Lewis. Their children were (oldest-youngest, and my aunts and uncles): Frances, Mack (my father), Clinton, Rhea Jean, Spencer Breard, Elva, Jimmy, Virginia. In order to make this a great event, we are asking that everyone (including those who are unable to attend), please add a profile, picture & current bio. This information is needed to create an accurate family tree and directory for future generations/reunions.

Bio: My twin sister Virginia Faye and I were the last of eight (8) children born to the late Brunner and Zola Lewis on December 7, 1950. We were reared in Vienna, Louisiana until 1957 when our family moved to Grambling, where I attended Grambling Elementary and Grambling College Laboratory High School. I graduated from Grambling High School in 1968 and while there, participated in high school band, was a member of the National Honor Society, and played basketball and football. I was extremely fortunate to receive a scholarship to play football at Morgan State College after graduating from high school and I graduated from Morgan with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education in 1973. I received a Master of Science degree in Urban Recreation Administration from the University of Baltimore in 1985. While at Morgan, I met and married my college sweetheart, Miriam and we celebrated our forty-sixth (46) Wedding Anniversary on December 6, 2020. We have two (2) children, Jimmy Jr., and Jada.



After graduating from Morgan, I commenced my employment career with the Maryland State Department of Juvenile Services where I remained for over thirty (30) years, retiring on December 31, 2004, as Superintendent of one of their Juvenile Detention Facilities, the Cheltenham Youth Facility. I remained retired for six (6) months when an opportunity arose for me to return to the work world with the Anne Arundel County Department of Detention Facilities, I worked contractually for two and one-half years as a job’s developer at heir Ordinance Road Facility as a Correctional Counselor. I finally retired for good on June 30, 2016 and made a vow to myself that my working days were over.



I am an avid gardener; I love to work in my yard and tinker with any piece of gardening equipment that has an engine. I love my family and my greatest joy is being with them, which also includes my siblings, as well as my nieces, nephews, etc. I have a strong belief in God and love some good preaching.

I had my first born son at 20, married in 1994 and had my second child, a daughter in 1995. In 2003, I had my third child, a daughter and the rest is history! I live in Texas, where I've been for the past 11 years, living and enjoying life.
