Mrs. Young spent most of her dynamic career as a superb educator at Downsville School under the leadership of Principal Mike Lazarus. Although Mrs. Young retired from the school system, she did not retire from educating. She was very involved in many civic programs She was a member of Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), through which she spent time reading to people who could not read to themselves. She also tutored children. Mrs. Young was a member of the Retired Teachers’ Association and Louisiana Association of Education (LAE).
