Brother John Henry Mayfield was born to the late Henry H. and Minnie Lyons Mayfield on February 3, 1907. He was married to Mrs. Annie L. Roane Mayfield. To this union nine children were born, three boys and six girls. One daughter preceded him in death, Elizabeth Mayfield Sholars.
He leaves to mourn his passing: his wife, Annie L. Roane Mayfield, three sons, Isaac H. Mayfield of Grambling, Louisiana, Johnny W. Mayfield and Payton R. Mayfield, Sr. of Ruston, Louisiana; five daughters, Ruthie B. Sawyer, Dorothy L. Crowe, Julia M. Lewis, Annie L. Houston, all of Ruston, Louisiana, and Annie R. Sherman of Grambling, Louisiana; 43 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 12 nieces and nephews, and a host of relatives, and friends.
