Brother Sylvester L. (Tot) Lewis was born January 23, 1911 in Lincoln Parish to Norman Mayfield and Susie Lewis. He departed this life, August 1, 1996 at his home in Ruston, Louisiana.

He attended the Lincoln Pariah Schools. He accepted Christ at an early age at the Mount Harmony Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. R. B. Moore He united in Holy Matrimony April 30, 1942 to Agnes Williams. To this union no children were born. He served as Chairman of the Deacon Board until two weeks before his death where he was removed at his Pastor’s request. He was the president of the Usher Board, Chorister for the Choir, chairman of the cemetery and he was active in most of the activities of the church until his health failed.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Agnes W. Lewis; one daughter, Dorothy Sue Outley of Detroit, Michigan; one daughter-in-law, Dorothy Mayfield of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren, two brothers-in-law, Bryant Houston, of Ruston, Louisiana and Mathew G. Williams of Berkeley, California; three sisters-in-law, Emma E Moore of Ruston, Louisiana, Varie McTee of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Arlinza Williams of Berkley, California and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

His Love, Kindness, and Compassion will be missed by all because he was a very loving quiet person.
