Christopher Alston graduated from Ferguson High School located in Newport News Virginia in 1973 and attended Norfolk State University from 1973 to 1977. I majored in Commercial Advertising and minor in Engineering. Currently a member of KAPPA ALPHI PSI FRATERNITY. I also attended and graduated with an Associate Degrees from Thomas Nelson Community College and the Community College of the Air Force Cum Laude in both Public Administration and Applied Science in Transportation. I retired as an Assistant Administrator with the City of Newport News Public Works Wastewater Division from October 1979 to January 2010. At the same time period as a Chief Master Sergeant Christopher D. Alston. I also retired from the 71st Aerial Port Squadron as an Operations Superintendent (33 years). I entered the Air Force in July 1979 and retired August 2012 from the Air Force Reserves located at Langley Eustis Joint Base. I served during Desert Shield/Desert Storm from January 1991 to August 1991 and Operation Enduring Freedom while deployed to Thumrait AB, Oman from September 7, 2011 to April 23, 2012 as the Air Terminal Superintendent. My travels included tours to Rhein-Main AB, Germany, RAF’s Mildenhall and Lakehenheath AB, United Kingdom, Clark AFB, Philippines, Howard AB, Panama, Incirlik AB, Turkey, Aviano AB, Italy, McGuire AFB, New Jersey, Dover AFB, Delaware, Pope AFB, North Carolina, Norfolk Air Station, Norfolk, Virginia, and Andrews AFB, Maryland. Once retired I was employed by the City of Newport News Redevelopment & Housing Authority as a Housing Inspector from September 2012 to September 2014 responsible for ensuring a high level of professional service to clients while ensuring compliance with Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Housing Quality Standards (HQS) and Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) inspection requirements. I also was employed by the City of Hampton Public Works Engineering Department as a Land Disturbance Permit Coordinator from September 2014 to November 2019 where I retired for a third time. I coached little league football and basketball for 16 years while working full time.
