Jacqueline Minson Ball, 49, passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer on March 6, 2005. Jackie, as she was lovingly known to her family and friends, was predeceased by parents, Jack and Betty Ball. Survivors include her sister, Linda B. Aiello, brother-in-law, Lou Aiello, niece, Christine and her husband, Ryan Craig, and great-nephew Jackson Craig. She is also survived by her step-mother, Barbara Ball, as well as Craig, Mark, Kathy and Ronin Robinson. She leaves behind her beloved cat, Sunny. Jackie graduated from Menchville High School and Meredith College, and received an MSW from Norfolk State University. Jackie worked for the Newport News Court Service Unit and later for the Institute for Family Centered Services. Jackie was an avid runner who ran the New York Marathon; she also enjoyed kayaking and other outdoor activities. In addition, Jackie was a keen reader, a lover of classical music and the arts. She was a gifted photographer and artist. Her legacy will be one of dignity, kindness and love as evidenced by the many friends whose lives she touched in her short lifetime. The family and "Friends of Jackie Ball" would like to especially thank the nursing staff at Sentara Nursing Home in Chesapeake, as well as the Hospice Staff, for their compassionate care.
