George Edward Barrow IV, 49, of Arlington, Va., died Nov. 5, 2004. He was born and grew up in Newport News, Va. He graduated with honors from Randolph Macon College in Ashland, Va. Mr. Barrow began a career in banking at First Virginia Bank. He also worked for American Security Bank and Bank of America in Washington D.C. Most recently, he was a private mortgage banker with Wells Fargo Home Mortgage in McLean, Va. Mr. Barrow was a generous and active supporter of the arts. His work helped to strengthen programs at The Ford's Theatre, The Shakespeare Theatre, The Studio Theatre, Signature Theatre, Kennedy Center and Helen Hayes Awards. He is survived by his two sisters, Mary Anne Dellinger and husband, Gerald, and Patricia VonOhlen and husband, William; nephews, Mark Dellinger, Will VonOhlen, Ben VonOhlen, and niece, Nancy Dellinger; as well as many friends and best friend, Helen Pate. Mr. Barrow was preceded in death by his parents, George E. Barrow III and Nancy Kelly Barrow of Newport News.
