Phyllis V. Woodfark Winston, 50, formerly of Newport News, died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at her home in Odenton, Md. She was born on Nov. 19, 1954, at Fort Monroe, Va., to Mr. and Mrs. James E. Woodfark, the youngest of two children. During her time of life in Maryland, she worked with the Food and Drug Administration in drug evaluation, and later in food service at Cosco. She was a member of Greater Church of Deliverance in Capitol Heights, Md. Under Pastor Tucker, her spiritual knowledge, relationship and faith blossomed. This became apparent and evident during her illness as she was known to be an inspiration, 'pillar of positivity and a light of faith for everyone.' She was a 1973 graduate of Menchville High School. She is survived by her devoted husband of 23 years, Henry Winston Jr.; her mother, Mrs. Ruby Woodfark of Newport News; her sister, Marian Ramsey of Hampton; her nephew, Jason Ramsey; a great-niece; and two great-nephews. Her presence will be greatly missed by family from Indiana, Georgia and New York and a host of other relatives and friends.
