Harry Mansfield Webb Jr., 41, died Sunday, Oct 20, 1996, at Riverside Regional Medical Center. He was born in Newport News on Oct. 14, 1955, and had been a Peninsula resident for more than 30 years. Harry was a graduate of LaSalle University with a bachelor of science in computer science and was elected to the Board of Academic Advisors. He was employee by NASA at Langley Research Center for 18 years as a computer specialist. He started his career at NASA in the Management Support Division and transferred to the Information Systems and Services Division. He was a 1995 Employee of the Year for the city of Hampton Mayor's Committee for People with Disabilities. He was awarded NASA's Equal Employment Opportunity Medal for outstanding achievement in the application of advanced information technologies in support of NASA's Equal Employment Opportunity Program for 1996, and was the recipient of numerous superior achievement awards at NASA as well. The Harry M. Webb Sportsmanship Award is given annually by the Peninsula Athletic Association in his honor.. Predeceased by his father, Harry Webb Sr., he is survived by his mother, Phyllis M. Webb of Newport News; two brothers, Gary P. Webb of Newport News and Eric R. Webb of Norcross, Ga.; two sisters, Marsha M. Massagee of Lancaster, S.C., and Pamela R. Boyd of Hampton; 12 nieces and nephews; special friend, Peggy Allen; and a host of other family and friends.
