Darlene Shanabrook Hall, 35, died Sunday, Sept 30, in a Medical College of Virginia hospital, Richmond. A native of Carlisle, Penn., Mrs. Hall was a Peninsula resident 29 years. She was a member of North Riverside Baptist Church, where she volunteered for the children's choir, and was director of the Girls Auxiliary. Mrs. Hall was a former volunteer for Campus Life Peninsula Youth For Christ, a life member of the Northampton Volunteer Rescue Squad for the past 13 years, an American Heart Association CPR instructor, and an EMT instructor for the Newport News Fire Department for the past three years. . Mrs. Hall was an emergency medical technician for the Newport News Fire Department. Survivors include her husband, Earl Thomas Hall Jr.; one daughter, Lisa M. Hall, of Newport News; one son, Brian T. Hall, of Newport News; her parents, Earl J. Shanabrook of Ashboro, N.C. and Thelma B. Shanabrook of Newport News; and one sister, Sharon E. Futrell of Newport News.
Darlene was a wonderful, loving and caring person. I had the pleasure of being her brother in-law for many years. Darlene, I know you are resting in the arms of the Lord. Your mom has now joined you in heaven. You are still missed by those who loved and cared about you. Dan Futrell
