NEWPORT NEWS - Michael Earl Piner, 57, passed away on april 24, 2013 after a long illness. Mike was born and raised in Newport News, VA but had been a resident of Wilmington, NC for 15 years. He graduated from Warwick High school in 1973 and from Virginia Tech in 1978 with a Bachelors degree in Architectural Engineering. Mike was a Civil Engineer with the government at Fort Lee, VA until becoming disabled. Mike is preceded in death by his mother, Anne Gary Piner of Newport News and father, Norman Earl Piner of Wilmington. He leaves behind his sister, Rebecca Anne Piner, nephew, Benjamin Piner(Michelle), niece, Brittany Piner, as well as a long list of extended family and friends from the Hampton Roads Area. Mike will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
