Lutrell M. Cherry quietly slipped away to his eternal home on July 29, 2022 at Riverside Regional Medical Center. He was born September 17, 1955 and raised in Newport News, Virginia in the Newsome Park area.

He was baptized at Second Baptist Church (Miracle Temple) at an early age. Trell graduated from Warwick High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served his country until his honorable discharge.

Trell loved his “Park” family and friends. He also loved sports. His favorite football team was the Chicago Bears and he loved to play cards with his buddies and baseball friends. His favorite saying was “Lotto God come on.” Trell was a blessing to his friends, but more importantly, to his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Cherry, Sr. and Bessie Cherry; maternal and paternal grandparents; brothers, James Jr. and Alexander Ruffin; uncles, aunts, and several good friends.

Trell leaves to cherish his memory, brother, James H. Cherry; sisters, Mrs. Yvonne Cooper (Sylvester), Ms. Darnella Fuller, Ms. Mary Cherry-Hewett and Ms. Paquita Cherry. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and several good friends.
