Arlene Kaye (Kaye) Gates, 52, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2008. She was a native of Horett County, N.C., and had been a resident of Newport News for the past 43 years.
She was a graphic designer and artist. Her hobbies and interests included traveling, fishing, gardening, planting and tending to flowers in her flowerbeds, and enjoying the outdoors and nature. She was a 1973 graduate of Warwick High School.
Preceding her in rest is her sister, Joan Marie Upchurch.
Surviving members of her family include her daughter, Genifer Nicol Hart-Triplett of Hampton; grandchildren Joshua and Jessup Tripplett; mother, Johnsie Kelly of Sanford, N.C.; sister Helen Eadie of Sanford, N.C.; brother, Bernell Gates of Sanford, N.C.; several nieces and nephews, and close friends, Lucille, Eileen, Trilby, Helen and Jim.
